5000 phones only? Wow. Looks like they are selling in some very tiny European nation. Here in India Xiaomi sells around 100000 devices in one day flash sell.

For a phone with the name "Essential" in it, it is lacking plenty of ESSENTIAL features like a headphone jack and expandable storage, and a removable battery. Not to mention it had almost ZERO repairability because you'll basically have to destroy the screen to get to the inside to replace the battery and other internals.

An Apple-like strategy to pricing doesn't make much sense since the iPhone enjoys a monopoly that the Essential phone can only dream of. With captive audience, Apple can price their phones as high as they want and people will still buy it. The Essential phone has to compete against many more established and better equipped Android phones, many of which are priced lower. It will be a resounding failure imo, unless they cut its price dramatically that is.

Kryo, 28 Sep 2017This phone has a Snapdragon 835 with 4 gigs of RAMyea i know..i mean if the chipset is weaker they probably can reduce the price further and alot ppl will buy it. it is a startup company ofcourse not many ppl will invest a lot of money on flagship price. most ppl will rather buy other known brand like samsung s8 or even xiaomi mi mix.

I don't know what the Essential Phone really offered to the consumer..
Perhaps there wasn't just the space on the market for it, and people in general didn't see any reason to get it over an iPhone or Samsung..

I'd would have been interested to buy it if it had SD Card slot.
So I'd rather get the Sharp Aquos S2. I know it has SD 630 / 660 but considering how good chipsets are these days i don't think the difference will be that big.
And the price difference is huge.

well for a phone with the name "essential" in it, it doesn't have the real essential features like a headphone jack, stereo speakers and micro sd card slot.
