Add, 14 Jun 2013Why didn't nokia replace their asha with symbian? i think ... moreBecause Micro$oft wants Symbian dead... it considers it a threat to their ugly Windows Phone. Truth is, there is no more room in the picture for Windows... so I dont know why they keep pushing...
Anyway since Elop is Micro$oft's trojan horse he will do anything even if it causes harm to Nokia to protect his real bo$$.

I really like Symbian, and I still don't understand how WP7.5 is better beyond the GUI animations.

up to recent past ,symbian os was the most advance and wholesome os in smart phone legacy. Personally i like it greatly as my 6120 classic gives me admirable support compaired to modern smrat phones with android os. It is very tragic story to hear that nokia has givenup their courge to seve symbian .

Mappu, 14 Jun 2013tech media and some group of people didn't want to see cont... moreIt's very sad to hear that nokia is stopping a legendary mobile OS.Symbian always remained a powerfull platform by giving it's users complete freedom. An OS that supports almost everything that would give satisfaction for it's continous users.WP OS is not a platform That can beat The leadership of iOS and ANDRIOD.Because They became had powerfull Hardware.I am using nokia 701 for last 1 year .I found no other smartphone is better than nokia 701 in It's class. It has 3G,Wi-Fi,Wi-fi hotspot(with 3rd paty application),Bluetooth,Powerfull dual LED Flash lites,An FM TRANSMITTER(a Unique feature),IPS LCD display That can play almost every Video formats(mp4 avi mkv rm 3gp flv wmv etc.. that is not possible in android phones of this class)in HD resolution.Only lacks an Auto focus Camera.I think nokia can still become No.1 By Giving consentration on symbian platform's powerfull features.

tech media and some group of people didn't want to see continued dominance of symbian in the smart phone segment. yes there were some issues its ui and core is but none of them neglected its key strengths like its power, hardware and memory efficiency and its telephony strengths. iOS and android still lacking some basic features of mobile computing like multitasking which symbian has had over a decade. this is a great loss to general public and even environment also. the same people will realize one day that their bias against symbian and its necessity. I as a true fan of COMPLETE SMARTPHONE expect symbian's key strengths will revive it back or comeback in a different avatar. so I won't say rip to symbian. I really hope millions across the world will be keenly waiting it happen.

Really sad to hear that of of the greatest mobile operating systems of all time will no longer be a part of the future of mobile phones.I was always a huge fan of symbian and my first device was the nokia 6600 which was one hell of a phone when it was released.Even though symbian did not make a splash when it entered the touchscreen era with the early versions of s60v5 or as it was known Symbian1 did not age well but recently it really looked like the newest versions Symbian Anna , Belle were really up to the mark and capable of taking on iOS and Android.Only thing that let symbian down was Nokia's attitude and lack of app support. The same things that also got to Meego.
Symbian will continue to be remembered as one of the greatest and versatile mobile OSes of all time.

Blame that free (i.e. worthless) OS called android that has lots of stupid apps making its pathetically slow. Its not a quarter as good & smooth as Symbian was. The success of this show off OS clearly indicates that the masses today believe in show off & not quality.

I'm glad to find that my 808 is not stop working, and it will not stop working even in 2016. Nokia phones are so durable and have excellent built quality.

In fact my 808 is still very much alive now, and the maturity of Symbian OS gives me more functions and capabilities more than I can find other OSes. If we're careless of what other people say we will find that Symbian phones are still usefull and relevant for quite sometimes.

Unlike Web OS who doesn't have a large based communities, Symbian has alot of communities to rely upon for supports. It's hard to think that Symbian will die immediately, who knows... And Symbian spirit carries on. This the example:

i think symbian is way better than asha..
they can develop windows phone for touch screen devices and symbian for non touch screen one..
                              just like their glorious moment

Finally, they got rid of it.
I used to have Nokia and SE with Symbian. Didn't like it all. Even WP is better.
