Please...3,5% after 3 yearsss ?! And they need buy/destroy Nokia to achieve 3,5%, rly ? Symbian belle or MeeGo was more interesting then WP but Nokia was a little late, then they dont have money like Microsoft to large advertising campaign. I would rather if Nokia will remain unchanged, making phones with Belle and WP/Android and Windows Phone + MeeGO :/

Anonymous, 29 Jan 2014NO it doesn't. It's the lease secure OS , most vulnerable,... moreMost vulnerable? Hardly... Antivirus companies just promote their products... Else who would buy them, after all? Oh and try running a newer app (make it a game) on an iPhone different than 5S or 5. Laggy and buggy as hell. Please support your claims only if you have sufficient experience and have tried ALL the OSs you are talking about (if you have tried a high end Android please refer just to the lack of experience part)

It is normal. Because there are many great Android flagships there and the price for Android phones is always more affordable.

Anonymous, 29 Jan 2014Current android version is still far better than any other ... moreNO it doesn't. It's the lease secure OS , most vulnerable, and it only runs smoothly if you have a 700 dollar or more android phone. How well the app runs also depends on what phone were using.

Not surprised by the dominance of android. A lot of their phones are of the lower end which makes it easier. Nowadays it's either IOS or android.

The world doesn't have an alternative open source OS to Android OS which is why Android sees so much growth. It's the only option as of now.

Many people have this "Micro$oft idea" from the PC monopoly era. But really, what other company wouldn't have fallen victim of their own force of domination? We see many anticompetitive practices today with competition, so I can only guess what one of the current companies would have done. Think of Apple... Very high priced computers for "everyone", instead of cashing in on minor variations of Windows and Office.

                  Really, let's just cut it.

Well the news isn't that surprising giving that every company wants to get the Android OS. Im pretty sure as i write this some unknown company in Asia ir India are making an android phone which is exactly what Google wants. Then there is the simple fact that Android phones price ranges from very cheap to very expensive which means almost anyone can get an android phone (sorry apple). Then there are different varieties that the Os offers, not just the companies but the phones themselves, from plastic casing to glass ti aluminium to polycarbonate etc. Then we have amoled or lcd screens, full Hd or not, waterproof or not small screens to insanely huge, snapdragon or exynos or nvidia etc, removable back cover or not, usb on the go, memory cards, wifi direct and the list goes on (sorry again apple but having more choices never hurts)

Microsoft just quit it, Nokia did why not you too, even if you spend millions to make back deal with manufactures still nobody will buy it, it will end like Windows Mobile.
I hope Yahoo make their own OS to compete with Android.

But if an OEM wants to sell a device with Google Play access they must pay Google a licensing fee for access to the Play ecosystem. In effect, this amounts to every Android phone sold, as nobody is going to buy an Android phone running just AOSP and lacking Google Play apps. This licensing fee is in addition to the fee charged by Microsoft for use of its patented technologies. So to say that Android is really free is just wrong, although of makes for good advertising for the friendly, local data collectors at Google.
