Of absolutely no value whatsover on a 5 inch screen. Then perhaps if I want to play my videos on an 84 inch or above screen it will be very useful I'm sure. i can just see people queuing around the block for it!!

More pixels mean Worse low light perfomance Unless fitted in a big Sensor say 1/1.5" 1/1.2" even with Pureview oversampling it will not work ...

i am fine with specs war if more mp camera can take fast and great photos, more ram consumes less power and more cores and increased speed in processor consumes less power and increased battery power guarentee life security.

AnonD-77380, 03 Mar 2014Did you try downscaling the 16mp image to 8mp or blowing up... moreNope. I mean the overlook of the photo seems better on photos by camera. Yet when I try to zoom on my camera photos I can easily read distance writings while my phone pictures are nothing to say about. I think it is the point of more megapixels ))

Th... moreIf they have the same sensor size, it's possible that the more number of pixels, the better. But compare a 1/3" 50mp sensor with a full frame 24mp camera like the sony rx1... let's see who'll come up on top.

Why don't you just all wait and see if the camera will be mind blowing or just a gimmick when it gets reviewed? More megapixels can be good as long as its utilized right.

All the megapixel wars aside, this is a very promising phone assuming it doesn't cost an arm and leg.

The specs beat even the outdated yet new flagships from Samsung, HTC, LG etc.. .

IMHO YotaPhone 2nd is this years winner regarding innovation, and this phone from oppo leads the specs war x3 times.

I remember back on the days when I compared my Sony Ericsson K810i with the nokia N73 with Carl Zeiss lenses and they produced worse pictures.

AnonD-214929, 03 Mar 2014I agree with you. somehow it seems like my galaxy mega 5.8 ... moreNot really, just because the models are made by same manufacturer doesn't mean that it is better. Phone is a phone, camera is a camera even if both made by Samsung.

It is simply a fact that phones are ever so thin and with huge screens that they simply can't fit good hardware for a decent camera, because if one is to have a good cameraphone the phone camera would be bulky and uncomfortable.

This concept is not new SE did it years ago with its Cyber-Shot albeit to a limited success.

Carl Zeiss is branding for optics quality. it doesn't entirely decide camera quality. To get good picture,Not only you need to have a good sensor, optics , but also your Image processing algorithms(i.e code which interprets the sensor output and produces the image.) has to be good.

Haha, it's really funny looking at people that say that a 50 MP phone can out-perform a DSLR. It's not about megapixels, it's about the perceived sharpness. And I really don't want to see the noise at ISOs higher than 1600. Not to speak about the DOF or FOV.

This kind of pointless feature discredits Android. Apple for all their flaws keep the megapixel count realistic and focus (no pun intended!) on improved optics and electronics.
