Coming from an optics background there way better than anything else any mobile has. And with the new 8.1 phones from Nokia in the way, apparently its not about mega pixels anymore.

Indeed the lenses are important but then the sensor has the same importance, and the Sony Exmor sensor is the best. All in all, not the number of pixels is important but the quality of the picture(dynamic range, colour reproduction, distortions, maximum aperture, noise level, etc). Myself I don't like the Lumia 1020 because is too slow, takes seconds between pictures, the colours are washed out and the dynamic range is too narrow.
