08 April 2011
Ah, the power of dual-core processors – it lets you do cool stuff like buttery-smooth multitasking, exciting 3D portable gaming or Full HD videos. The latest Samsung I9100 Galaxy S II packs the new Exynos chipset, which pairs...

Where is the OpenGL benchmark? Did it crash on the SGSII? For now, that is the most reliable GFX benchmark on Android and seeing how the iPad2 probably has the same CPU/GPU package as the SGSII it would have been interesting to see if, like the iPad2, the SGSII can outperform Tegra chips by a factor of 3 in that benchmark.

Also: NeoCore for graphics performance? You are kidding right? Qualcomm's MSM7225 budget cores can perform that one at a seeming 60FPS.

Last things: What kind of 2.3 were you running on the SGSI? Cyanogenmod or one of the beta firmwares?
In benchmarks and games 2.3 barely gives a performance increase whereas 2.3 on both Samsungs is still in a mid-quality beta stage which would have a far more significant influence on performance.

i really love galaxy s II from the first day it's announce. But lg has also done a greast job. Optimus 2x is being sold in italy at €499 but galaxy s II will be sold at €700+ this is really a bad thing about galaxy s II..

The photo taken with Arc tends to show a bit more grainy edge as compared to S2. As for color, S2 has a bit of issues with saturation which Arc seems to not have. These are just my 2 cents worth of comments.

I hope to see updated review with final hardware and software, I just can't believe games would stutter on Galaxy S II when they don't on Optimus 2X.

great, and the most important criteria for a phone is not compared: telephony quality - like how well am I understood when talking and vice versa.

2 1/2 years ago I bought my LG KC910 renoir just to find out that telephony quality sux and I am hardly understood...

Chill down guys. GSMArena has underwritten a disclaimer that the product it has now is with a pre-released Gingerbread and a unchanged CPU. The comparisons might not be as what the final product may have. Let us just take it with a pinch of salt. It's just a preview, NOT a review.

I don't understand why gsmarena always say that contrast ratio for amoled is infinite. Of course the dark pixel don't emit light. But according to physics, if the adjacent pixels light up, that particular pixel is supposed to absorb/reflect some of those emitted light.

AnonD-1544, 09 Apr 2011Man you said it!! It's so obvious their favoring samsung! I... moreHow exactly are they favoring Samsung? LG has done nothing to improve the user experience beyond loading it up with their own crap. The SGS II at least has a hardware accelerated browser that is a lot smoother than the one on the LG. Heck I'd even go as far as saying that the browser on my SGS is smoother(running 2.3.3). The camera, audio and display quality are all sub par on the LG. When you take all of this into consideration, while keeping in mind that the SGS II is both lighter and thinner and comes with better codec support, you'll come to see why GSMArena are praising the SGSII before the 2X. Gaming is about the only thing that is better on the Optimus(for now at least).

So much impressive hardware but what's the point? You can have the best processors, best screens, best everything but at the end of the day, your software is just incapable of utilizing it.

Its like driving a McLaren in downtown Bangkok! Pity.

display, 09 Apr 2011how do u knw that? They havent even put it against the CBD ... moreEven if CBD is better than super amoled plus for a small percentage (actually it is not) you should buy a Nokia C6 or E7 to get it which is no match for SGSII. So dont you think this small difference is not very important. Also keep that in mind that CBD doesnt have those crispiness and wide viewing angles of samoled+. CBD only has better color reproduction.

It can be a bad question, but for the S II can people play with TEGRA games? I heard, that the Dual-Core phones, can play them.

If the first sgs II,with the dual core 1ghz processor didn' t have performance issues, then why samsung decided to release a delayed version with a 1,2 ghz processor? i think dual core 1 ghz processor is enough but sgs 2 has performance issues. and the comparison with lg isn't fair. it makes lg look like a mediocre phone

For me Bottom line is who bring it first here in the Philippine and the price , support ,update will be the factor here, coz here Samsung is having problem with after sale support ,I for one experience it , it took them 3 months resolve my problems with s8500 last year and now I'm using HTC desire z with no problem with after sale support
