Hi Guys! Been using this phone for almost a year.
Observations;
1. Working good for the first 8 months with Cyanogen12.1
2. Last few months, noted overheating patterns and lagging and restarting issues.
3. However, performance and battery life was still good.
I guess the overheating and restarting problems are due to software issues.
So, what I did was look for many reviews and research for Good zuk z1 roms.
At first was like, I should update only to Official ZuK software. But boo, poor software support. So why should I wait for nothing?
Finally, I am so happy with my research. It worked for me! All the hard efforts were paid. I have the latest software with minimal tolerable bugs!
Maybe this can help you and appreciate this phone again:
1. Unlock your bootloader. (This requires a lot of patience to work)(videos in youtube helps: use keywords:unlock bootloader zuk z1)
2. Install custom recovery with TWRP
3. Root your phone. With super su
4. Download CM13(marshmallow official)-CM14(nougat 7.0 official)-Lineage14.1(nougat 7.1.1 by ordenkriegger) roms. Download them all for they are incremental updates and you cannot directly install nougat from lollipop.
5. Download Gapps ( download each for marshmallow, nougat 7.0 and 7.1)
6. Then were all set.
7. Go to developer options and allow advanced reboot-> recovery
8. Do a wipe first, then follow this installation pattern:
Flash with cm13 first then gapps for marshmallow then reboot.
Go to advanced reboot-> recovery
Do a wipe-> flash cm 14->gapps for nougat then reboot
Advanced reboot-> recovery
Do a wipe-> flash lineage 14.1-> gapps for 7.1.1 then reboot
Then:
Congratulations!
You have the latest firmware for lenovo zuk z1!
Fast facts:
Fingerprint sensor is working properly
Camera support and 4k video support is very good.
No Volte as the official ordenkriegger page said.
So far, restarting issues were not present on my experience.
Fast and split screen support
Increased antutu scores
So far, some minimal issues with stock brower which lags but may be overcome by downloading google chrome. And use chrome as default browser.
The unlocking of bootloader itself is a pain in the ass. I was stuck here for almost a day. Just do your reading and research. Everything will go well.
So now, I'm happy again with my Zuk Z1. I' m like having a new phone again!
Just be patient.

new user please don't buy lenovo any mobile phone this is so worst and cheep quality product sell in market and mostly online selling phone is so worst.
at the time new phone purchasing please avoid lenovo phone
this phone over heat at every time after every 2 call hang this phone this phone specially problem in mother board with in six month under mother board will be unused condition.

castumer care service so bad no one solved problem and it is liar company they said ota update marshmallow but in marshmallow no official update and custom rom have many bug don't buy lenovo product it is worst company not provied us voltee support if we open our data for calls then battery draining and heating issue please not buy lenovo product they never heard our problem and all developer of lenovo is liar.....

You buy lenovo zuk z1 its battery is amaing with wifi.3g.4g data .but its camera not so good and also cynogen mod not working properly in pakistan maybe its work properly in other country..

Worst phone you can ever come across. My Lenovo Zuk 1 developed issues within the first month of using it and d worst part is, the service is horrible. The service center people are extremely uncooperative & arrogant.
Don't ever buy any Lenovo phone.

You will go to service centre for any minor problem ,they will say it is not possible and escape easily.I will recommend not to buy this phone and another problem with this phone is device is getting heated at the time of charging and talking .
