It's a great phone. I, for one, fell in love with the design as soon as I saw it on the store and said "I want THAT one", so the girl behind the counter replied "The Android One?". At that point I knew I just HAD to buy it.
Screen's great, music quality great (but volume limit a bit low if you ask me), and a guy with big hands like me has to LOVE the big, confortable backlit keyboard =D
About the upgrade, well, Motorola is being called Motofail because they wont launch 2.1 (let alone Froyo) in all regions, but there are mods to let you upgrade to 2.1 and it's easy. I'm from one of the unsupported regions (Latin America) and I've been in Android 2.1 for a while now.
I'd say, without any fear, it's the cutest, most beautiful phone ever (at least for me). I'd love a Hardware upgrade someday, but keeping the outside design.

i really like the built quality of this phone but as u mentioned here about its problems i will go for Htc wildfire but it has got low screen resolution i have heard lots of negative response but good 5megapix cam with Fm radio.
is Htc wildfire display = nokia 5233 display ???

video call is probably not supported...but trying to fig out. i am only 2 days old & its my first android. till now no major issue. only crib is eclair / froyo upgrade. then its a damn neat phone (otherwise also its a neat phone)

I personally advice people not to buy this phone. I feel that Motorola doesn't care about Indian users and there is no update for this phone till now and it runs a 1.5 (cupcake) version. The battery backup is only for half a day if you want to use internet frequently. There are too many bugs in this 1.5 version for Backflip. Battery doesn't sits properly. Audio clarity is good over headphones but not on the phone speakers. Software Design - 've too many bugs.
Battery backup & software update is the major problem I face.
Advantage - I love the hardware design which has a keypad and messaging is easy.
Htc Wildfire might be a good choice

hi i m planning to buy this phone though 2.2 upgrade not avilable in india also checked on moto india site it says live
widget is not working....
is it worth buying???
is anybody facing problem related to this phone??

we can connect the wifi in the phone by changing the encryption type in your modem.. juz open any browser and type 192.168.1.1 in that use admin as your username and passwrd then in the case of encryption select "NO" so that yu hav to search your wlan and some times it may be hidden so you can type your connection name and then it wil be connected.... if not juz post your problem i wil .clear yours..

This is so bad that Indian users cant update their android right now bt US users can,
I think MOTO is not considering that indian users are even exists :)
because I have been using this phone since 2.5 months & getting bored to use older version of android in the world of Android Froyo,
Two times i have asked to MOTO also about software update bt they never told me when we will get it
& yeah this phone has lot of bugs/problems like
Getting hang in the middle of something, cant play Divx or MP4 of high resolutions i am not saying HD videos bt it cant play a video of 640 * 480
It doesnt have Multi touch
***** Moto doesnt support MOTOBLUR in India = I dont know why *****
So guys if anyone going to buy this phone then please dont buy it,
this is really bad phone as per its price instead of Motorola u can buy samsung galaxy 3
which is really best mobile than Backflip, & i am going to buy Samsung Galaxy 3 :)

AT&T is overall the best newwork in America. With the best network MOTOROLA relesed the best phone to make CALLS. Calling is #1 for a cell phone. Unlike the iphone 4.

Android 2.1 Eclair update is out for Backflip.. But its meant only for US Backflip...

Will using the same update on other country Backflips cause any sort of issue? Shouldn't it work just fine?
