Anonymous, 21 Nov 2010the phones feel is amazing, its so light, android software ... moreHow can it be a rip-off? The fact that mobile companies can get the phone for £130 is irrelevant....if you want to buy one sim-free it will cost you £300! You wont get a discounted price that a mobile company can get. Therefore getting it free on a 24 month contract at £20 per month is a good deal.

Anonymous, 21 Nov 2010the phones feel is amazing, its so light, android software ... morecomplicated? New to smartphone? Better get used to, as Android is already one of the most user friendly OS around.
Rip off? Which other brand offers such water/dust/shock proof "touchscreen" handset for around USD380?
I'll get one in about 2 weeks for around US$330 which requires extension of my current contract (US$4.5 per month...no kidding! US$4.5!) So even if I add 6 months of service, the total would be US$357. Rip off?

the phones feel is amazing, its so light, android software works well and the camera is as good as an 8 mega pixel cam, the problems i had with the handset was the functionality, its to complicated, i want simple and direct to text someone, to phone someone not having to go around a council estate as i had to with this phone, also have to warn people that despite it being new at this time the handset is only 130 to mobile companys who are after your 24 month contract set to make around 480, bit of a rip off

got the phone yesterdaqy and i am well impressed fast internet experience superfast application download times and the loudest ringtones on any phone yet so no more missed calls due to noisy enviroments...having previously owned the htc magic the htc legend the htc desire as well as the samsung galaxy s and the sony ericsson x10 mini pro i can confidently say that performance wise it easily beats most of them and the extras such as swype and widget resizing plus the phones dustproof water resistant and scratch proof glass and its size to screen ratio compared to most of the above makes it a very attractive purchase not to mention the price...go ahead and get one i was apprehensive about purchasing a motorola but i sure am glad i took the plunge

Well as a BBE employee (yeh you know..) I have the pleasure of sticking my sim in the latest mobiles and playing for a week or three. Let me start by saying my own handsets include an iPhone, Desire, BB9000 & an 8800Arté.. Even with 2 batteries the Arté can't survive as long. And we all know that's the only one of the 3 that was gonna get close once we got off the spec sheet and into real life... If you didn't know - now you do!! Ok 800MHz isn't the fastest - but we dont all want or need the fastest. The compromise is phenomenal - I can stream iPlayer(MyPlayer) as efficiently and lag free on this as on the Desire. Swype text allows us to go back to the days of "texting whilst walking" - without getting run over or walking into BigIssue sellers. On average I've gotten 3-3.5 days out of the battery with pretty heavy -"oooh new toy" usage(there's not only a battery saver mode but a smart & performance mode). Battery life being reduced by brightness - this screen looks best on the lowest brightness setting - the colours look richer(personal preference/opinion). I may have dropped it once or twice.. ok I've thrown it clean across the store (you know when one just HAS to win an arguement with those Apple lot....) I havent tested the water resistance but I can say that the screen deals with keys & coins (oh and a 1400W hammer drill!) as if there's half a dozen InvisiShields on it.. Motorola have created something that for me, at least, is a game changer. You dont need a case/cover/screen protector. You can treat this mobile like you did your Nokia 3310 or Ericsson T10 - no other smartphone offers this level of care-free, careless ownership - and that is why I'm currently telling Farmers, Dockers, Builders, Extreme Sports types, Drunk Student types and many more, that if you don't wanna treat your phone with kid-gloves - then treat yourself to a little bit of Moto.... and yes, it has the old Motorola ringtone that my mother had when I was in school.. "Ello Moto" - hey it's nostalgia, leave me be =P

had the defy now for 2 days - identical software inside to my galaxy s-but the big difference is the motorola battery lasts-the samsung only lasted me about 12 hours then flat, this is perfect , same user interface, apps, live wallpaper, email, great camera (and a flash!!)everything looks identical inside the defy to the galaxy s -only the defy battery actually lasts along time even in the real world unlike the disappointing battery performance from the samsung-anyone considering a galaxy s ? buy this instead, same software, better performance and a rough, tough, waterproof phone thrown in for good measure-i am so pleased i traded my galaxy s for this motorola defy, couldn't believe my luck because i loved the galaxy s menu but couldn't live with 12 hours battery before it bleeped low battery !!
