I have my Defy (known as MB525 in South Africa) now for 3 weeks. It was a big challenge to get used to Android \ Smartphone. My previous phone was not a touchscreen phone. VERY frustrating initially, but as I learnt the features and got used to it, I have grown very fond of my phone. I LIKE: the ruggedness, general navigation, 3G wi-fi hotspot, configurability of network settings, maps (I still have to try the GPS). Quirky items \ issues:
- migrating contacts from previous phone to new phone. I copied the contacs onto memory card, and put memory card into new phone. Then MANUALLY saved EACH business card on new phone. I don't know if there is an easier way, but it took me an hour and a bit to get my 250 contacts onto new phone.
- The 3G Wi-fi hotspot sometimes freezes and\or don't exit.
- Battery life DEFINITELY is an issue, but after I switched off Bluetooth, wi-fi, GPS, and wireless network (in "My Location" settings), I got my phone to last 3 day (with moderate use). With networking devices on, the phone lasted just one day.
- Calendar: I couldn't fidure out how to set reminders without creating an "Account", so I created a GMAIL account that my phone could "sync" with. Now it works great. I would have preferred to be able to set events and reminders in my phone without having to connect to an account.
I am not a user of social networking, so I am not bothered with these features. I am not really bothered by the camera so I won't comment. I find audio quality of the phone quite OK, so no complaints there. I also don't play games on the phone or watch video clips, so no issue there either.
I would appreciate a stable 3G wi-fi hotspot, and a stronger battery, but, I am quite happy with my phone - it satisfy my requirements quite nicely. Enjoy.

I updated my defy to android 2.2 ,but let me tell you its horrible..and there is nothing new except a changed gallery interface..task manager and smart dialing..

My old phone sends me a reminder of birthdays and aniversaries (basicly it keeps me out of trouble). Does anyone with the Defy - know if this phone will be able to do the same thing. Many thanks
