vinay, 16 Mar 2011Hello Everyone, I need help from you guys... I am planni... moreMotorola Defy should be your choice. My answers:

1. THE BEST SIGNAL RECEPTION of all available smartphones (some blackberry's may be on par with Defy),
2. Camera makes pretty good photos and video records very good VGA and will probably support 720p @30fps with upgrade to froyo (not confirmed!!!),
3. I don't know as I don't listen music from my phone (I use dedicated music player),
4. Excellent for watching videos,
5. Excellent for games (very good GPU),
6. Update to froyo will bring support for flash 10.2,
7. full mail support,
8. full chat support,
9. yes, you can find apps for that as well.

Dear friends, I am planning to buy my first android phone. I am extremely fascinated by defy because of its sturdiness (I have dropped many of my past phones). I intend to use it as a phone and not a complete replacement for my laptop so the things concerning me in orders of priority are-
      1) Battery life
      2) voice clarity
      3) upgrade to 2.2
      4) does the phone hang/slow down with apps running
      5) is 2GB internal memory sufficient if I want to try out some apps

Request the users of the phone to kindly guide me on the above points with their experiences. I wish to make the purchase very soon. Any suggestions, comments or pointers to an altogether different option are welcome too.

      Regards

vinay, 16 Mar 2011Hello Everyone, I need help from you guys... I am planni... moreHello,

I recommend the HTC Desire, because it's a fast phone with a 1ghz snapdragon processor and a 3.7'' Super TFT LCD HD display.
It also has a HD 5mp camera.

        Thanks!

I think this is the best phone i ever had.. I had used motorola E6(Still working!!!), Samsung Jet(Crap apart from the multimedia things), Samsung galaxy spica(Not bad) and Motorola defy(Totally in love with this phone). Using it for the last 10 days. Works flawlessly.. Fast..
Playing all the HD games... NFS Shift, Modern Combat..Splinter cell..brothers in arms.. I have no space in SD Card(Using 2GB:-(..)to install more games..
            Camera is fine..

Overall a very very good phone..

Alex, 15 Mar 2011Hey guys. Can anyone who has this phone tell me about the b... moreFor light use, one can probably get thru from 1-1/2 to 2 days...though I would recommend to simply charge the phone "everyday" just in case.

In addition to my own, I bought 3 units on behalf of my colleagues, 2 more friends are ready to get the Defy as well, as the only problem was...the phone was selling so well where I live it ran out of stock for almost a month!

                            Poor.
Initial opinion was great as it was a compact phone with heaps of features. Sadly the feature promises did not meet what was advertised.

The phone can only be enabled with a connection to Motoblur. Which means that if you put in a SIM the phone has to have access to the internet to grant access if you get a Motoblur a/c. This means that you are totally dependent on a Motoblur server somewhere to use your phone.

Secondly it claims to be able to sync contacts. What they dont tell you is that you can only sync music, movies and photos directly from your PC. If you want to update contacts you need to save them in .csv form, upload them to a server on the internet then suck them onto your phone. Somehow someone thought this was ok to do.

I took it back to my provider and got an HTC Desire which is brilliant.

Alex, 15 Mar 2011Hey guys. Can anyone who has this phone tell me about the b... moreI have had my defy since december 2011 and it is the best phone! My friends all have android devices all with 1ghz processors and they are all amazed that my phone performs on par, if not better than theirs do.

Battery life is amazing, my useage is a lot more than the usage you stated (at least 1hr wifi) more txts and calls made and after taking the phone off charge at 6am, by 10pm i am usually on about 60% or sometimes 50%. Its amazing!

The device can be customized so much! Adw launcher can be added to the phone (a home screen launcher) and this totally gets rid of any lag in the app draw and home screen + gives you so many themes and customizing options.

The music player is one thing that also amazed me! Play ANY song on my defy while connected to wifi and it automatically downloads the lyrics and shows you the exact lines of lyrics as they are being sung. The layout, look and feel of it also is very smooth and up to date also.

If you'd looking for something that wont cost you too much, defy is the phone to seriously consider.

                                  Hey guys nd gals!

My Moto DEFY is finally here and am loving it!

The version that comes in India DOES in fact have MOTOBLUR although it seems to have toned down a bit due to pathetic mobile internet speeds / penetration / whatever reason you can think of!

There's no ear piece problem whatsoever in my handset, so thats history as well.

As for battery life, I have been a center of attraction at workplace which means everyones playing all the time with my DEFY (^_^) so whenever I have it with me, I connect it to PC for charging, so dunno.

A few notes though: At any point theres just too much crap running (services and apps) in the background and the sad part is if I use TasKiller app to kill all apps, then certain functions don't work until I restart the phone like: USB charging / Phone portal (usb service on phone), Media Audio Effects service (which gives Audio EQ effects). This means that it needs all those running services to function normally, and killing them would certainly mean degraded functionality.

Oh and one more thing, I sadly haven't been able to sync or even go online with my DEFY since I have a crappy operator and my boss wouldnt let me on the office WIFi, so here are again battery savings from this, and also from the fact that I normally try to manually keep display brightness as low as is comfortable; sometimes when outside in the sun at Auto Brightness so that the light sensor automatically adjusts it.

Have played NFS shift, Asphalt 5, Homerun Baseball 3D, Angry Birds, Armageddon Squadron, Zuma revenge, Glow Hockey, etc with absolutely top notch smoothness.

I could go on and on praising this, but this is it for today! :P

P.S: If u want FM on loudspeaker, search on xda-developers (dot) com for HTC FM Radio app and get the ability to play it loud on the speaker! \m/ But I frankly like Defy's FM radio preset feature which emulates coverflow!

P.S 2: Oh and Bluetooth and WiFi do work flawlessly and at top notch speed. Since I don't have mobile internet yet, can't comment on A-GPS, but the Compass works absolutely brilliantly. Also am not satisfied with the crappy earphones that came boxed with DEFY. I put in my Sony Ericsson's Walkman earphones and the result was simply mind-blowing! This means that DEFY's audio quality is NOT at fault, its the crappy piece of earphones!

                                  Cheers!

Hello Everyone, I need help from you guys...

I am planning to buy a new mobile..I have been a user of Nokia E63 from the past one and half year, and I am from India...
Now I am stuck with four choices and I am confused which mobile to buy...

The four choices that I have as of now are:
                                    1. Nokia C7
                                    2. Motorola DEFY
                                    3. Samsung Galaxy ACE
                                    4. Samsung Wave II

I am also letting you know my usage on mobile:

                                    1. Main thing is Signal reception
                                    2. I take lot of pics as I hang out with my friends a lot...I use camera a lot (both for pics and videos)
                                    3. I love to listen to music, and if my mobile plays good music...I would love it...
                                    4. I watch videos, like video songs and movies on mobile... (You won’t believe but I also watched movies on my Nokia E63:-D)
                                    5. I am not an extensive gamer but I do play games...
                                    6. I Browse net on my mobile a lot...so I want a mobile to play videos embedded in a webpage, and websites like YouTube etc...My old Nokia E63 could not play videos from sites like GSMArena etc 
                                    7. I used to check all my mails, and even reply to them through my Nokia E63...so I want the same from my new mobile also.
                                    8. . I chat a lot :-)
                                    9. I need applications like to save and hide my personal data….for example, I used to have HideMe in my Nokia E63 which used to help me protect my pics, videos and documents and also hide them…so it would be better if I had applications like this on my new mobiles also.
