it could be like touch wiz or something completely new.. i mean they could go either way
this might explain why Samsung never bothered making a custom ui for their Android phone, probably did't wanna give away any designs for Bada or their team much be only focused on bada

so lets get this stright;
-S... moreYes, BBRY counts too.
There are a lot of OSs already, but anyway it will be a good experiment for the next year. Depending on how they develop, then BADA may get more attention from the third parties. If not, well, WinMo and Symbian will still be available, I suppose.

Interesting proposition.
I have a Samsung Jet and love the simplicity of the proprietry Samsung OS but hate the fact that I can't install apps.
If Bada can overcome the app issue it would be good if it can't it will be a disaster.

NvS, 10 Nov 2009I've used winmo before--Omnia with 6.1--and i don't like it... more1) Act as a sonar using phone's speaker.
I can write a quick program for my n900.
2) blowing candles with your breath.
I have seen that app, it's a joke and it cna be done in almost every smartphone.
3) Using your fingerprint as a password.
Every touchscreen smartphone.
4) scanning your retina with camera phone.
Once again, what a joke.
5) Check your body temp.,blood pressure, glucose rate simply by touching the screen.
how long should I say this, what a joke.
6) And so much more you can do beyond your imagination..
No, just until apple denies your app, because it is dangerous or something like that.
I will stick with my n900 and its Maemo Linux which allows me to do anything I can.

BADA in Swedish means to take a bath or go swimming, too bad they are ditching symbian, but I'd like to see Nokia start with Android as well.

Mayb they wanna b like Apple, n Sony Ericsson shud hav tried to do that at the start of the colour screen era to try n incoporate the CyberShot, Walkman and Playstation with their own OS.
Good move Sammy!

I am in two minds about this.
On the one hand, we don't really need another smartphone platform. There's Symbian, Android and Windows Mobile which are all open to any manufacturer. There's WebOS, iPhone OS and Blackberry OS which are all platform specific AND Samsung already has LiMo on some phones.
On the other hand, if Samsung are going to use Bada across the entire range, and actually cease producing feature phones, then it could be a runaway success. The perfect example of that is LG who have their own proprietary semi-smartphone OS on millions of handsets across multiple models. If Samsung have everything on the one OS and they make sure there's an on-device app store for every handset, they could make a killing.
The difficulty however will be attracting developers to the platform to make all those apps, and for that reason I think they would have been better adopting Symbian (or possibly Android) instead of re-inventing the wheel.

this is genius. y not get rid of all the licensing fee's for os's within a few years and have your OS run on all your phones. fee's aside from a company's stand point this is perfect timing, with all the other os's around y not push out your own ecosystem. hardware, software, apps, sdk for developers to work with...good move samsung. now if you can only bring good phones to AT&T

xaneybert, 10 Nov 2009as long as samsung would replace omnia II's WinMo and upgra... moreI've used winmo before--Omnia with 6.1--and i don't like it,i'm not gonna use winmo anymore,i'm happy with my 3Gs now,and winmo is far from iPhone's Os no matter how they released 6.5 or even winmo 7 itself, microsoft never learn anything since they released winmo back in 2000s,their UI are just too complicated not user friendly and you need to be a super computer geek,it is a stable OS but that's it,comparing it to iPhone?it's still a very long shot.
Name a phone that could :
1) Act as a sonar using phone's speaker.
2) blowing candles with your breath.
3) Using your fingerprint as a password.
4) scanning your retina with camera phone.
5) Check your body temp.,blood pressure, glucose rate simply by touching the screen.
6) And so much more you can do beyond your imagination..
You can find all those things at the App.store,no smartphones could do those things besides iPhone...!!!!
