This is turning out to be a PR nightmare for Apple. The product has a some potential, though Apple has drastically overestimated the market, I just hope it does not go the way of the Cube, they need to make some serious changes.

Anonymous, 28 Jan 2010the n900 owns this piece! no multitasking?! no usb c... moreThe iPad (iTampon, iKotex or whatever you wanna call it) is not comparable with the N900.
It's not meant to be a phone. It's meant to be a tablet.
I don't think it will succeed as the iPhone did, but also because of the Apple brand it's not gonna "fail".
It will sell.. but not as well as the iPod or the iPhone. That is my expectation.
I am NOT going to buy it when it's out.

Anonymous, 28 Jan 2010the n900 owns this piece! no multitasking?! no usb c... moreWhat part of "Tablet" is not agreeing with you? It's not meant to be a phone, it's meant to be a computer. But it's not that really either...

I think the iPad is still trying to make up it's mind of what it wants to be - oversized iPod Touch or an actual Mac. I'd love it to be the latter...

        the n900 owns this piece!

        no multitasking?!

        no usb connectivity?!

        no fm transmitter?

        no camera?

itunes: the most restrictive way to transfer music?!

what a gimmick. smart move by apple because they know there are millions of apple fanboys impressed with good looks, but all this thing has is a big screen.

look how big this junk is! if i wanted something that big, i would get a LAPTOP

Now that the iPad is announced, everyone's iPhone/iPod touch just demoted itself to a iPad nano status.

                Hi Guys

iPAD is not a computer, netbook, smartbook or tablet.

It is just an Enhanced Ebook or a big iPOD.

Look at it from the point of colored Ebook with extra functionality.

If you want a netbook, smartbook or tablet go for Nokia 3g Tablet, Lenovo smartbook or wait for Google netbook(hope we can use it offline) and Motorola itablet.

I see this thing h**ked to run Android.

Is this all after much hype?
It is clear that Apple target ipad as an ebook reader plus multimedia functionality.(look at it's price and screen ratio)
I hoped, Apple would roll out a full flag touch tablet that can replace all media players, netbooks, GPS and e-readers.
You let us down Apple! Show us if you still get something!

When I first heard of it, I was expected a tablet PC running a proper Touch version of MacOSX (not dumbed down like the iPhone one), a full HD screen and maybe even a super slim DVD Drive in there alongwith USBs and what not!

What I find is an iPhone thats been on a McDonalds Super Size combo spree for an year.

Even though I was an iPhone hater in the start, once the fixed it up with the new OS upgrades and the apps caught up, I had to agree that it was a prettyyyyy good phone!

                      This however, dissapointing!

It's quite obvious here but I'll mention it anyway.

Basically, everyone, including those who are apple fans (aka fanbois) are disappointed with the underwhelming announcement. They were expecting a new OS, a new phone announcement (4G, though that now seems to be at Barcelona this year), and I think a new version of iLife was expected too. All that plus it seems the whole day was used introducing this device only.

So yeah - seems like apple's made a boo boo with its fan-base this time; I for one was expecting something revolutionary again from apple (like back in the days of iPhone). The iPad to all those who own iPhones and especially iPod touches, the iPad is nothing extra apart from the fact it's bigger and has a prettier GUI for eBook use.

We at Apple have come a long way since our introduction of the fabulous iPod.

First it was this iPod, then we released the much anticipated iPhone, and now it's the long-awaited iPad.

Notice a trend ? iPod, iPhone, iPad.

                                        Perhaps you don't see a trend ?

Well, we have another device on the horizon, due for launch in a couple of years, but no one outside of Apple is aware of it. However, because GSMArena.com is such a fabulous resource, in conjunction with presenting to the World the iPad by myself earlier today, I'm announcing the name of a brand-new, never before product, here only at GSMArena.com - it is the iPoo (it follows the trend of the 'P', iPod, iPhone, iPad).

More details of the iPoo in the 1Q 2011.

Hope I whetted your appetite for all things Apple.
