Anonymous, 17 Feb 2010No flash and it's poor performance has been known for years... moreMultitasking works great on many mobile phones, the hardware can handle it. iPhone might not have the hardware to handle an multitasking iPhone OS (but with the 3Gs, I would think it actually could).
Multitasking is great and not only about running more than one program at once, it could be about having an training partner software with GPS when you are out running (since on the iPhone you cant turn off communication and still keep GPS on), and not have the workout program stop just because someone is trying to reach me at my phonenumer. Same goes for GPS navigation in the car. And similar situations, where you want the program to keep running when youre not about to answer a call. Resume is not an option.
And if you want to stream internetradio or music in the background, while using the phone to write messages, write documents and so on, this requires real multitasking.
Apple cant do this, but it has worked perfectly fine on Symbian (S60, UIQ), WinMob for years. While activily multitasking the unit uses more battery, but when not, the drain from the battery is only marginaly larger than it would have been if the OS didnt feature multitasking.

Anonymous, 16 Feb 2010You're such an Apple worshiper, you believe everything they... moreNo flash and it's poor performance has been known for years and is finally being pressured into either improving the product, or ridding of it. Consumer wants dictate how fast a market moves and the direction and HTML 5 is becoming a want by many consumers as it will bring far greater stability. Yes it will take a bit of work, people needing to re-write all their code, but hey who is going to turn down the potential lucrative dollars to be made out of Apple? I am not an Apple fanboy, but it is the best Mobile OS, because it's the most functional. You can talk about multi tasking etc... but these features are still not practical on mobile devices until the hardware is capable.

Hmm...
Maemo: Too risky at the moment. Nokia releases a new OS together with Intel and who knows if they are still supporting the N900 after that.
Android:
What I saw until now was good but I haven't tried it enough. I would't buy a phone with it at the moment because it still lacks of good games (which i think should be available for a 500$ phone!!!)

Yeah! Exactly what I've been waiting for! Since my Ipod Photo died I haven't seen any phone or player with a good handling. I tried the Iphone but hated it and my new Phone (Nokia 5800), well, lets say it's better than the Iphone but Symbian has it's issues as well.
I'm looking foreward to try this!

Wow, this use to place to post a decent comments, but now it's full of losers, grow up people. I am not a fan boy like many of the sad people who have posted here as I choose a product based on quality value and functionality and not just because it has a particular brand. So I think WM7 looks real nice, well maybe that's because I am a top typographic designer and I have got an eye for style. Well done microsoft and welcome back to the fore of the mobile game.

Anonymous, 16 Feb 2010No customization?!?!?
Seriously...
The beauty of WM is th... moreCompletely agree!!! The benefit of windows has always been freedom. I love my HD2 because the windows interface is usable (at best), but allows me to fiddle with every setting imaginable. And if I want smooth flowing menus, I look to the Touch Sense UI. Not to mention unrestricted bluetooth and flash support (though partial).
To me this just looks like Apple OS. Beautiful, simple and LOCKED! I won't be sticking with any operating system that forbids me to change the way I want my phone to run...

i am winmo fan but i didnt like the start screen of this new windows mobile and indeed it looks ugly because i am used to see a nice big clock(not small one on the corner)also a calender ,a wall paper, even the icons of the start screen looks big and ugly, and i am wondering about gaming if there would be games in the quality of the iphone
games or just online gaming without built in graphics accelerator???

Anonymous, 16 Feb 2010I think people are confused and are sounding really uneduca... moreYou're such an Apple worshiper, you believe everything they say...
If you knew anything about HTML or web design you'd realize that HTML 5 can't just be "turned on" or switched too. It takes a lot of work and the few features that are available are widely unsupported still.
You need to accept that plug-ins like Acrobat and Flash are the standard for now, and probably the next 10 years.
HTML 5 is an evolution based on the current XHTML, potentially much more powerful than the original including the use of Javascript libraries like Prototype and jQuery.
HTML 5 won't be fully replacing XHTML for years, keeping accessibility in mind here.
HTML 5 also isn't just about playing videos and sounds in a browser to replace Flash. That's also not the only thing that FLASH and Silverlight can do by the way...
So get used to it, we'll be needing Adobe for a little while longer. Apple may as well just give in for now and work TOGETHER with Adobe in stabilizing it for their own browser...

I dont think the OS is all that as its not even customizable and it just looks average. Windows 6.5 is much better and at least the touch flo 3d looks better. Oh well, guess its just about waiting and see how it runs and what other things it might offer.

simple user, 16 Feb 2010rumor said win mobile 7 requres at least 0,5GB RAM to run. ... moreI don't think Zune has a 0.5 GB (512 MB) RAM. Only HD2 has such a RAM. Even Toshiba's TG02 doesn't has 256 MB RAM and its not yet out. So if Windows Phone 7 requires 512 MB it'll not work on TG02. I don't think thats going to happen. TG02 seems to be tailored for WinPho7 (Why the hell did they changed the name? Could've better been Zune OS).
But there is another rumour that all phones running "WinPho7" should have a camera flash. And atleast 5.0 MP camera.

I have a feeling this phone is made by SHARP.
Apparently Microsoft and SHARP are working together again to release some new models.
Not sure if the "Pure", as rumor has it, will be the Zune phone. Possible however...
I know the Turtle has just gone through the FCC, which is also another phone Microsoft and SHARP have been working on.
It would make sense, since SHARP, Renesas, Fujitsu and NTT Docomo were all working together on a new mobile platform that is meant to be an advanced mobile platform for 4G and up...
We'll see... soon hopefully :)
