Editorial: Samsung, sort out the GPS and Bluetooth on the Galaxy lineup

25 October, 2015
I am an avid phone user, but I don't need that much from a device. That's the reason why throughout the last couple of years I am mostly using a current-gen iPhone as my primary device. But I always try to stay in the Android and Windows loop, so I often experiment with my secondary smartphone.

Hey bro! Same thing here! Everyone I know who has an Edge+ has that gps issue, including me! That happens only when mobile network positioning is turned on. When on 'gps only', no issues. I had the same issue with my S4 and Note 3. I don't remember having those issues with the Note 4. Regarding Bluetooth, I'm using Plantronics Backbeat 2 go, no issues so far.

This sounds odd to me. I have used 2 notes and S6 but have never ever faced a gps issue with either one of my device.

Holy buckets that sucks. Never had those issues.
That's sure a way to make an iPhone user feel like what the haters say is true.
Hope you get to see the real experience and realize ios users face the same thing

            DUDE!!!
been using Galaxy S2 for four years and now S6 Edge for almost 6 months, not even a single problem of your type! not on the BT connection on my car audio system, it auto connects in seconds easily every single day. and about the GPS or location issues, none found on any of my devices.
I live in Iran and they both show that I wake up there, every day ;)

Similar experiences with Iphone 6- See e.g. http://eskerahn.dk/wordpress/?p=577

So paraphrasing the last sentence of the editorial:

But because I am paying Apple a load of money for a phone, I demand a device where at least basic stuff like Messaging and Bluetooth works issue-free. I don't have the time or the desire to fix the bugs of my brand new shiny handset - it’s your job, Apple!

I don't have gps issues but definitely compass issues. Phone always pointing the wrong way whenever I'm nagivating.

Bluetooth I have no issues whenever I connect to one device. Two device however is a little buggy. My Bluetooth audio devices will sound like a radio whenever I connect to more than one Bluetooth device.

So you have traveled all around the world with your galaxies , whats bad about it? :D :) Nice and fun article !!! btw i just kiddin :D , yup when you pay 800+$ for your phone you expect that every thing would work fine n when there is an issue the parent company should have this urge to fix that asap other wise Cut out the company and live happily ever after ! cmon sammy defend yourself! i think they should hire someone just to read reviews and articles about their products and listen to their costumers vastly just to be on point anyway good luck with edge+ one hell of a device ;)

I've had all those phones except for the S6 edge and never experienced any of those issues, not even once.

I currently have a S4, had a Note 3 for a while, my wife has a Note 2. And I have no idea what you area talking about. GPS is locked in 3 seconds and never leads me to Africa or South America. Bluetooth will stay connected during my 4-5 hours of marathon running. Never failed.

I`ve had S3 with the same problems , location wise , i switched to a Galaxy Express 2 (G3815) and from july to now , I am fine . The location is functioning properly , the BT conection with the car`s audio system works fine , if I put the phone into the glove box then I lose GPS signal and locate me into the other side of the town for few seconds . Probably is a glitch in the GPS chip for Exynos models (my Express 2 got Qualcomm Snapdragon S4
                            2x1.7 GHz)

The GPS on my Galaxy S1 was rather bad. It could last forever to get a lock.. but was quite simple to loose it.
Note 2 was much better at getting the lock... but could easily loose it, especially in forest foliage or dense architecture... or just going through a country road. Could also "hang" and take a long time... or require a reboot to recover.
Note 4 seems the best so far. Haven't had any issues yet.
Definately never experienced GPS locking to another country/city/location though.
The weirdest thing I've had was actually with a Lumia 800 phone and Here maps, which routed an intra-Poland route through Russian territory...

And no problems with the Bluetooth... always remembers the pairing and works without hassle... but I do use a simplistic loudspeaker... perhaps that's for the best. The voice quality was rather poor with S1, but it's okay with the Notes.
I did hear in the Toyota salon that their bluetooth systems mainly synchronize hassle-free with iPhones (meaning not only allow you to take/make calls, but also get access to your contacts, messages and so on). Apparently Samsungs aren't able to. They were quite surprised my Wife's HTC connected instantly and with no issues. Guess they don't see too many HTCs.

Maybe something is interfering with gps in your location, i dont have any kind of bluetooth or gps problems with my s3, note4, and s6 edge plus.

I have had S3, Note 3, s5 and now S6edge+ , not once I had any of the issues mentioned by OP. GPS is always precise and not once I have to struggle to pair the phone with my car medianav system. I have used, jawbone era(crappy connection issues after an infamous update which rendered the earpiece useless) and then bought a plantronics verge, never had issues connecting with them too.

Have you tried rooting the device and flashing a custom ROM? Ask the folks at XDA for help, they're good at fixing things like Bluetooth and GPS issues. Also, check for rogue processes running in the background, and kill any unnecessary apps in order to keep RAM free. I regularly monitor what processes are running on my phone. A good antivirus and running a daily scan will help in this regard.

                                    Hope this helps!

I've been using my s6edge and sync with my focus mk3-ford sync on daily basis. No issue at all for the Bluetooth. Stable and always connected. Once setup and its done. The navigation accuracy I would say above average. Before this using note4 and xperia Z2 also do not have any issue at all. While using note4 previously, did used moto360 1st gen. The Bluetooth do not have any issue.
