Sony has its customers that value what they do, ... moreI'm pretty sure you mean just "brand recognition", in the sense (some) Apple fans would be willing to pay more for Apple products just for the brand alone.
Unfortunately that is not a sustainable business model, not for Apple or anyone else. The product itself matters and innovation also matters. I cannot speak of the phone itself, as I have not tried it yet. But the innovation clearly isn't there -- in fact, they have gone backwards in some aspects when compared with the Xperia Z5 (Premium).
I read some of this comments and feel like Sony fanboys were the original bread that came before Apple fanboys.

It all boils to the qaqc and the individual. Some companies have a reputation for durability like nokia, while others it all depends on how u use it

Sony has its customers that value what they do, ... morewell that was just my suggestion, i am myself exited about that phone specially for its brushed body back, just worried that will its speakers match loudness and clarity of my 'nokia express music 5800' i am kind of an audiophile (i am using it to reply you myself, my fone is actually broke and its my only backup phone) , will most probably buy it untill got a better alternative

Price for xperia x performance is around 150 dollars less than S7, but its higher than top spec Mi5. Only problem is with service support.
From my point of view, if in your country you have no official service for one of them than go with the other, in most cases sony might have better representation.
Second I would still choose sony for the UI over the MI5.
Otherwise, MI5 is best buy. The lack of official representation of xiaomi in my country makes me not to buy it. If things change, at the price of S7 I can buy 2 xiaomi :))

Sony has its customers that value what they do, and make them profitable to continue doing it.
They will keep the pricing as long as it works for them.
A different longterm market approach than xiaomi, that is all.

Well I am shocked that sony xp got lower vote but I think answer is simple I.e value for money, when you compare sony x performance prices with prices of s7, s7edge , lg g5 you realize that sony xperia x performance is competing more with s7 edge and lgg5 rather while what it offers more is just beefed up chipset (not to forget it 3gb ram only) while xperia x has price almost near s7 thus this time sony will get big shock, but I rather liked their x performance

Had some experience with oneplusone, a bargain price flag... Well, lets just say...you get what you pay for.
Not that Sony should not reduce its prices a bit, but its just that...well, its worth that bit of extra hardearned cash if yours...

my xperia ZR (June 2013) updated many times, now lollipop 5.1.1 and works perfect, I use it for emails, photo, scanner, reports, reading PDF, playing games, calls, chat, skype, .... all uses (It is a real PDA).
Durability? all functions very good, Battery life almost a full day (before was 1.5 days), physically very good screen and chase , only the plastic flap of the charging port cover (IP68) is flimsy now.

Xiaomi mi5 pro is the only better solution than X performance...considering the cost/benefit ratio.
other mi5 versions are just not.
But still would not buy it over X performance, chinese UIs are not too consistant in optimizations and updates, whereas Sonys UI is among the best androids and supported at least 2 years
wonder about the pricing though?
Nah...would pay extra 100-150 € for Sony, its a safer bet
