You do know that Xiaomi is cheaper because of the business model not because of the materials or components and craftsmanship, right? They don't spend billions on advertisement, they don't keep stock, they don't release 100 models per year, etc. So no, you're not getting what you pay for. In the Sony case you pay for a lot of rubbish that brings you no value whatsoever.

              ... , 28 Feb 2016Really?? Ok, as you can see for yourself, 32GB version ... moreI don't know where your info came from concerning the price but last i checked on gsm arena, the price for the mi5 32gb starts at 306$, 64gb 352$ and pro version was 413$ not 600$.

                  Also I doubt you've ever used a Xiaomi phone, because if you had you wouldn't be saying so many negative things about it. I have used Xiaomi mi3 for 1.5 year before I lost it and I can say that phone was far from sloppy, in fact it played most graphically intensive game like Asphalt 8, Modern Combat, NOVA 3 and Injustice like a champ.
                  As for the battery drain I had more trouble with Sony Xperia SP as its battery reduces by 6-10% overnight in standby mode whereas Mi3 only reduced by 1-3%.

                  The only thing bad I can say about Xiaomi is their customer service is not up to the mark ( though I have yet to visit their service center ) , call quality and speaker quality is sub-par at best.

                    Be realistic and objective, Xiaomi Mi 5 wins in most aspects compare to the other flagships.

                        Xiaomi mi is good and cheap but it kind of sloppy when you play game,browse web and app, most Xiaomi go downhill well almost all.Camera and audio are also sloppy.
                        But Sony Xperia high end phone it perfect in all aspect.Camera,audio,game,browsing experience and app.If you are outside china and live in developed country Sony and it app are useful to you and it doesn't bore you.
                        Xiaomi are mainly focus on China user.
                        Plus Sony are much better in display.Xiaomi go not so great.
                        Don't be fool by that Xiaomi phone has large battery they drain really.Xiaomi consume much battery in all task that is really bad for if you steam video browse web listening music and play game at the same time.For me Sony is my buddy.

                            I have confidence to Japanese products, other than smartphone I admire their technic from example like car bicycle appliances etc

                              If one doesn't mind about software updates go for Xiaomi with cheaper price. But for tinkerer, Sony is the way to go.

                                On paper the Mi 5 might seem the better phone but you are likely to be more satisfied with the Sony once you've had the chance to use it for a while. I doubt the Xiaomi can match the Sony in terms of build quality.

Can even remove almost all preloaded non stock google apps. Not too much stuff on. Getting a nexus lenght support. 2 to 3 years on the premium line. (Who cares about bezells when you get stereo front speakers with a nice sound)? Fully wather proof. All day battery. Nice camera. What is there not to like? If you don't like the ui you can download a launcher or even custom rom. So again. What exactly is the problem? Is it realy so bad to pay more to get way better official ui support? I'm not saying that Xiaomi phones are bad, infact they are very nice. Just wonder about all the Sony bashing.
