You still need to wait half a year or more for new releases of Android like other brands. But this weekly updates do help with security patches.

Do not believe xiaomi spec, it is more than that. Frills there.
I posted this to other article, but paste here to warn u guys.
There is always reason why the product is cheaper - unstable..
With personal exp of redmi note3 - the basic one, 16 gb.
I would not recommend to buy any xiomi yet. I am iphone6user and got lured by redmi note3's spec, well i just used it for a month and i gave up. And switch back to iphone again.
The problems from many, i don want to root first of all, do want to use as in general, this phone gives me a lot of stresses everyday while i am in busy for work. Sms shows me first line of text within half of letter(cut it horizontally), getting slow after 2 weeks when do multitasking, miui isn really good to use, looks copy of ios but slow and uncomfortable, fingerprints scanner is only one i can say no 1 and better than iphone and samsung.
YouTube doesn't work, cannot install my bank app, vodafone app, phew too much stressed. It is only chiniese user can be happy, and battery is 4000, wow i charged 100% and use it one mins then it goes to 94%. No meaningful of 4000. I feel i used my 1yr old iphon which is already sucks in terms of battery life.
Overall, don buy it now, miui still not optimised a lot of bloatware as well. Buy samsung or huawei , they work the os for global. Xiaomi sucker is just trolls from china.

This is a difficult vote. The mi5 really redefines value for money. I think sony for now, its a global product while xiaomi is a regional one. Also i don't like phones without app drawer and long term update support. Overall the mi5 is very tempting.

I have the Xperia Z3 and I'm very satified with this phone and it's optimizations. Sony did a good work with the battery management for Xperia Z3, no battery drain on standby, even with data, gps, wifi... and about 9h screen time. Z3+ and Z5 came for double of the Z3 price, and with SD810 problems wich everyone knows. Since Xperia X Perfomance will probably cost almost the same price of Z5, I don't feel the upgrade is worth. And for probably 300-400 US$ over Mi 5 price, I can live without IP68 waterproof. I'm a big fan of Xperia design, and didn't enjoy Mi 5 design too much, but if it have the same battery duration of Z3, I will consider it over Xperia X.
