Are you serious comparing this altek to nokia N8??? I would take a satio over this altek any day any time. So what do you think will happen with the N8 which is even better? Don't you get it already, the thing with the satio + N8 they are great camera phones + Smart phones! Yes this is what we are talking about a smart phone that has a good camera. If I wanted to go with this altek why not just buy a real camera?
And I'm sure that this altek phone will not have half the reliability of Nokia or SE. So please don't be brainwashed with the media and every new thing, sometimes they just underestimate our intelligence so pls don't fall for such thing.
And for those people who really believe this thing kills the N8, hmmmm well let's say I really feel sorry for you :)

Hey guys, if anyone is looking for a camera phone yesterday i would have told them go for the nokia n8 but today it has to be this phone, forget the megapixels for a second, this phone has been made by a excellent camera company rather then the other way round so its bound to have a better quialty pictures and the optical zoom/looks makes this very apealing. Also a company like this wont add the extra mega pixels unless their needed. What we have to see first tho is how this phone operates as a phone but if they get that right the name altek will become market leader in camera phones and maybe other phone companies will stop adding mega pixels and start making good camera's instead, although samsung seems to have done that recently with the wave and galaxy s, they both have 5 megapixel camera yet the pics are just as good if not better then some 8 mega pixel cameras. anyway this could be a great phone just wait for the gsmarena review

I bought my brother an Altek phone a few years ago, we both really liked it. Wasn't anything compared to my D900 (going way back lol) but it was a respectable little phone. I really do like this thing. I was hoping that Samsung W880 would have popped up here in the states, or even the Motoroi. If Altek did this right, the thing has the potential to be something really amazing. Depending on the price I might pick one of these up.

Been into photography so I know the megapixel war is not more than the salepitch but because these guys are coming directly from Camera field and if they are behind good cameras then the possibility is they will bring something powerful to the table.
Although I am sure people will get this for the optical zoom, not for the 14mp. The rest is up to price and other specs specially the storage and camera speed.

2 major concerns over this...
Firstly, memory / processing power / etc. - for something this slick it's going to need to be pretty fast - anything less than 1GHz and I reckon it'll struggle...
Secondly, screen size - I suspect we're looking at 3" ish? quite small by today's standards, I have a Hero and it's only just manageable...
Don't worry about the name - nobody had REALLY heard of HTC until a few years ago - even now some people go "who are THEY?!?!?"
They are HUGE in the world of digital cameras, who knows, this could be a "sleeper hit"???
If it is does have Android and it is half-decent it will seriously impact N8 sales (and even X10's)... I mean... Symbian... I've had a few Symbian phones - my last Symbian phone was a Nokia N93i (remember that one!) that had a "carl zeiss" lens and optical zoom - it wasn't that good tbh... loved the design though...
Either way, I'm going for the Galaxy S in a few months, until they bring out a successor to N93i!!! :)

For all of those who only look at the MP count, let me give you a quick example about how numbers are not eveything when it comes to saying which one's best.
If I would ask you to choose between two cars for a 0-100 km/h acceleration test, and gave you only the horsepower, for example car A has 245 bhp and car B has 507 bhp, no doubt all of you would go for car B. But since horsepower in this case isn't everything, car A (Ariel Atom 2) does 0-100 km/h in 3 seconds while car B (2004+ BMW M5) takes over 4 seconds.
So it's funny to see all these guys here, drooling over 8, 10, 12 and 14 MP cameraphones when it's only a marketing gimmick for dummies to gloat over and show it to their dumbass friends.
Luckily for these companies, blind wannabe tech geeks will always fall for these stunts, forgetting that a succesful products (no matter what it is: car, TV, laptop, mobile phone, etc) is more then just a bunch of individual numbers. If the whole package doesn't work well TOGETHER you won't have a good overall product...

If you think this phone is better than Nokia N8, I advice you to buy this phone as soon as possible..then you will realize what a big mistake you have made.
we will enjoy our Nokia N8 after 2months.

An awesome cameraphone with Android OS = Perfect! The phone looks quite stylish with its brushed metal body. And its out in just a month. Wow.. The N8 looks soo outdated now.

i like nokia and own nokia handset only. Why altek Leo an unknown mobile manufacture can release a new product that fast! why nokia cant release its new product that fast. Its a shame to nokia. Hope nokia will release its product this fast! It Very frustrating to wait for N8,C5 and the other new phone! This will give time to nokia user to jump ship to android! people want to buy N8,C6 and the other new phone by nokia but nokia release it so late that people have other choice like android! even if nokia is cheaper but people can save enough money to buy android phone while nokia still dont release N8.
