Apple finds iPhone 4 signal bars misleading, hiding poor signal

02 July, 2010
Apple just issued their official statement on the non-existent iPhone 4 reception issues. What iPhone 4 users are experiencing when they grip the lower left corner is just their real signal, poor as it seems...

i've talk to hundreds of people and they actually understood what i was telling them

this is how i explained it

the providers make the phones cheaper on a 3 year plan
the actual price is no contract price on the bottom

    i told them as well
if they pay get the cheaper price for the phone they will be put on a contract

or an even easier way to explain it

one time full fee for the phone and make your own plan
or pay low fee and with high bills for 3 years

It doesnt register with them.

@ Allan ,,thanks for your reply much earlier...

This is another angle to look at,,,

What if steve jobs/apple say,,look you buy our i-phone on a contract and we will look after you..We will stop flash on your mobile bluetooth transfers and full delivery reports and so on...We will look after your fones so they operate how we want ,we will give you a safe browsing experiance and full help and full support..you must obey these rules and limited options when you sign up..

              OR

We will sell you an unlocked i-phone sim free and you can do what you want with it..You can tweak it and mess about with sofware and use android on it etc, BUT at point of sale you will sign a declaration that apple will only gaurantee hardware against defects and not software,, if you damage you fone thru hacking apple will charge you 200GBP to fix this..,,

I would love to see how this would stir up the market and more importantly how many pure i-phone fans would choose the sim free option..???

[deleted post]Why not wrap your phone in invisible shield, that way it might help with your antenna issue and you can keep the thinness and maybe a little more protection incase of a fall.

Anonymous, 04 Jul 2010Here's the reasons why I think you're wrong.  And that... moreIphone 4 sold out at Apple store can show 2 things. Which one you choose is up to you.

                  1) Apple is a cult.

                  2) There are more id*ots, su*kers, sheeps and wannabes in the world then we first suspected, nobody in their right set of mind goes and buys a faulty "big time" phone on purpose.

So i hear you are waiting for evidence about the faults in form of people returning their phones. Isn't it enough that there are enough people affected buy it to make Apple themselves write a open letter? Or are you still on LALA land?

And you know what, did you read the Apple issued software update that's gonna fix a hardware issue? Did you read that it's gonna be released right after the 30 days full refund is no longer valid?

The software is gonna fix what Apple calls the "antenna bar" issue which is showing wrong reception values. How is wrong reception graphic on the screen gonna fix bad reception, lousy voice audio and dropped calls? This came right after the whole miss and hit "your are not holding your phone the right way" comedy routine.

Really? I refuse to think that reading from your comments that you are not intelligent enough to know something is wrong and Apples pride is bigger than the loyal customers who are getting baseball bats shoved up there as*es as we speak just so Apple won't be embarrased.

Even i think iPhone users deserve better treatment then to be treated like du*b dingbats. You don't always have to so say "how high" when Apple says jump. It's ok to sometimes critisize and demand justice for your hard earned money.

And you iPhone fans should not be put in a situation like this one by Apple here where you have to defend Apple when they don't give a rats ass about you, they don't deserve your loyalty or protection against haters, not this time, and you know it.

I have been mad at RIM som many times over stuff, but in the end they listen and fix stuff, they also are more sincer in accepting faults and giving you a refund or a upgrade you to a new model for free.

apple messed up they knew this was gonna a happen weeks before the official launch

june 10th 2010 they were aware of this RF issue
that's why they made the bumpers

                          simple
apple knew they messed up so they and didn't do anything about it except send a letter to all the users
                          no compensation
a software issue will not fix improper hardware
and the fact they are looking for RF engineers obviously means they
messed up and are covering it up with an early firmware update
                          to trick it's users

                          and and the fact aswell

                          nokia messed up
                          nintendo messed up
                          microsoft messed up
                          and even sony
                          same with samsung

they all fixed their mistakes with compensation

                          apple.....did this

                          a sorry letter
tell people to buy their FIRST PARTY ACCESSORIES the bumper
tell everyone there is no problem when
their clearly was even other RF engineers stated the problem as well
poor quality materials for the phone

and now they are getting lawsuits from people, huge manufacturers, foxxcon the assembly plant exposed for poor working conditions and mass suicides

and as well they try to blame AT&T for poor reception
even though they had 3 previous generations of phones on the same network

                            1.  The distrust is mostly coming from haters who are non iphone users.  So it's not like they're going to buy the iphone anyway.
                            2. The more you hate iphone users, the more we would love our iphones.

                            For lawsuits:
                            1. Nokia will keep on suing Apple even when Apple is innocent for the sake of bad publicity.
                            2. Class suits will continue from law firms because they see Apple as a gold mine.

                              [deleted post]well,

I think you really need to keep counting both the iphone4 number in sales & $$$.

because most of the swinger won't buy iPhone4 due to:
                              1. wait and see
                              2. distrusts apple brand
                              3. hate apple attitude towards their user

and the lawsuit won't be cheap.
                              1. nokia and others suing apple for stealing their innovation
                              2. the disgruntle iphone4 user suing apple for stealing their money
                              3. the raise at foxcon salary
                              4. the blame that were put on AT&T. apple surely slap AT&T with money for the deal

In situations like this, apple can do 2 things to do damage control.
                                1. Recall the Iphone4 and cause millions of loss for the start, but collect billions in a few months.
                                2. Issue a software upgrade that will show fake signal strength. Calls will continue to drop. Apple will not make any losses for the beginning. Will eventually cause billions of loss due to making fools out of consumers, resulting a huge loss in consumer trust.
So Apple, will you follow the way of Toyota, recall the phone and apologize or will you make fools out of us?

The second point is that Mr Jobs is not very fair with its users. How can he judge the "good" way to hold a phone while all Apple pictures show the "bad way"? He should better admit that his engineers failed.
