Apple squeezes the reception out of Nokia N97 mini

21 July, 2010
Apple seem keen to prove other smartphones have the same reception attenuation as the iPhone 4. And they are getting back with a video of Nokia N97 mini that suffers from the same grip of death as the iPhone...

Also I would very much like to know why Apple did not attack Nokia along with the other brands, but waited. There must be some covert reason, maybe they were checking their legal position.

Anyhow, I am amazed that STILL there are ifans who don't think Apple has done anything wrong. Amazed.

Considering the fact 3.5G is weaker than 2G. Two bars remaining on 3.5G is equal to 80% bars remaining on 2G means you can still make calls. And I do want to know ever in life do you hold your any phone in suck awkward style while making calls. Grow up dude. Apple is just misleading peoples..

Those video demonstrations were done by his people, who lets face it could have easily tampered those phones before the camera was rolling. I'm not saying they did, but they could have, and by the videos that have been released in response showing a far less significant drop in signal, if at all, Apple have really shown themselves up.

The difference is with the iphone 4 it was the fans who complained, not a rival company. You would never see a reputable company like Nokia or Samsung showing the faults of a competitors handset.

This is total crap, I just tried it with two N97 mini's and nothing like what Apple "SIMULATES" in this video happened, not even a single bar. Jobs was likely just opening and closing the door on RF-insulated room.

Funny thing is... I did the same thing to my Nokia N97 mini and not a drop of signal. The death grip is becoming a joke and a desperate move from Apple.

While the grip significantly decreases the signal on the iPhone 4. I fear that the other demonstrations were faked.

A Little childish perhaps, but it amazes me how the nokia fans jump on the I hate jobs bandwagon. To be fair to Apple, it demonstrates that the majority of phones have this problem. A problem none of us were aware of till recently, and it will be a test Im sure carried out in every phone review from now on... Its just a phone get over it.

Seeing Apple business practice make me wonder if apple really care about their user.

It seems to me that apple is not care about user. They only care about manipulating their user.

I really think that we all need to stop buying apple product to give apple a lesson in 2 or 3 years. so they will change their business practice.

Anonymous, 22 Jul 2010Apple did a wonderful job to create public awareness. This... moreBare in mind the purpose of apple. They did not make things clear in the first place.

Firstly, when it was reported that they have antenna problems, they simply brush it off as some software problems. As things got out of control, SJ gather the media and announce of their plan regarding this antenna issue. The plan was not to rectify the problem at all.

Yes, you may say, this problem does not isolate to just apple, but hey, most manufacturer try their best to place their antenna in the place where most users are least likely to interfere, but apple did not. Did you remember how SJ brag about how its revamped antenna is a great deal, which turn out to be the biggest flop.

The different between apple and other manufacturer is that apple has to come out clean to the media and brainwash its isheep in order to earn the billions, while the other manufacturer do not. Their users know that the severity of this problem is just isolated to apple. They did not invite any media to clarify such problem, in fact, nokia had stated that by interfering with the antenna would affect signal in their manual decades ago. did apple do so?

Nokia and Samsung do not have to manipulate with the facts or even resort to bashing other brand to sell millions to earn billions. And to say apple is earning more than other brand is utterly rubbish. Samsung itself has reported a preliminary 2Q result of 4.5 Billion USD on a sales of 38 Billion USD. 38 Billion USD, thats nearly 3/4 of apple annual sales in just 1 quarter of Samsung sales. You cant deny who is the technology king.

but the fact is , now people r not happy with your phone which caused by antenna problems so it's the time for you to fix it and get a solution and not to point the finger to other phone ..nokia, htc blackberry...
