Oh and by the way, I have a nexus one and works really nice. In my maybe-not-super-informed opinion google has a nice corporate philosophy. Everybody makes mistakes, some people just don't know how face them like men.

This is just dumb on Apples part. They actually had to do research to find the flaws on other phones. Meanwhile all you had to do was put your finger on the Iphone4 and the signal droped.
Wow, these guys are good, show off the flaws on other phones, because your phone isn't really any better than the others, unless you are brainwashed by Apple to buy all the new "hip" but yet usless electronics. Apple products don't do anything better than any other product out the on the market..

the main point to note from this is that the phone still has a signal even when it attenuates whereas the iPhone 4 goes completely and starts searching for a network which is no good to anybody. i'd rather have a phone with 2 bars strength than no bars!!!!!!

The battery is at the lowest strength while they are performing the test. So I feel that the signal boosting won't work too much to get the proper signal.

For the first time in my life, im seeing a MNC displaying other brand on its own website.
Would you find a Honda car on Toyota website? HAHA. Its just so hilarious....
Do you find Samsung displaying Iphone screen comparing with their Galaxy S.
Would you find a HP laptop on Sony Website. HAHA
It just show how desperate apple is.

In my country there's a phrase for that: Mal de muchos, consuelo de tontos. It means that only fools find consolation by seeing others that have the same problems. Acting that way is a really mediocre philosophy. Men should accept their faults and not mind other's business. Don't they have any self respect? I'm sorry to post this but somebody had to say it and remind people that even if it's a big company it doesn't mean we should follow that kind of sorry behaviors.

Jacob, 21 Jul 2010There is no doubt that One can recreate THE GRIP OF DEATH o... moreThis is EXACTLY the problem!
Apple's little trick works on people like you! IT IS NOT A RECEPTION ISSUE.
When you are holding a Nokia, you are NOT shorting the antenna. You are COVERING it.
In Apple's case we are SHORT CIRCUITING two metal pieces. Our body conducts electricity and that is why placing a rubber casing around the METAL antenna prevents this issue from happening.
D-E-S-I-G-N flaw.

There is no doubt that One can recreate THE GRIP OF DEATH on most of the devices. It doesn't matter if it is Iphone, Samsung, Htc, Nokia or any other device, all of them have a weak point. Recently I have tried out the grip of death with my Nokia N86 8MP, it didn't take me long to find the right spot and guess what, yes the signal bars dropped down from full to only two almost instantly. DO I feel betrayed by Nokia? No, I don't. Why? well, the phone even with poor reception is still able to make calls, connect to internet and keep me connected on Skype without any lugging. (By the way, I'm using 3UK network which has rather weak coverage)
The conclusion is; I'm very thankful to Mr. Steve Jobs for letting us all know about the "new" feature in our phones, yet I would appreciate him, instead of pointing fingers, to come up with a solution how to retain functionality of the phone even with bad reception. If your competitors can do it, you can do it too!!! Have faith :-)

Peter, 21 Jul 2010"Peter,
I'm happy for you if you can live with that... morePeter,
Toyota had to do a complete recall, albeit for serious safety concerns. Apple ought to do the right thing before this becomes a serious issue, because people won't lay this to rest until it's fixed.
I like the iPhone, I really do. So far I only own a iTouch and superb SHARP T923, but I'm not investing money into a phone that has a potential to fail. I want it fixed if I'm being asked to spend close to AU$1,000...
