Really?, 31 Jul 2016Is the S-pen necessary? Of course not! Who needs an S-pen, ... moreThis guy actually got a point. Unless you got a job/hobby of actually using the pen most of the time, then it is universally pointless to have one.
It's a mind bending thought that this pen feature is an essential addition and at the same time pointless, all things considered.

I am pretty sure that Some people use the S pen for (showy, bragging, boastful) purposes, to feel more sophisticated and educated if you have a pen (S-pen) in your hands.
and not as advertised by Samsung, that S pen is for productivity and more...
of course others need the S-pen to take notes during a lecture, a meeting, or to use the added capabilities of snapping and sharing any part of the screen (honestly, how often you did this, few times, huh? ;--))

S-Pen is good for closing some Ads on browser that the damm fat fingers can't seem to hit the X accurately.

hey gsma, atleast they pack the pen with the phone, unlike surface 4(which actually can do a lot with the larger screen usin a pen) or apple(well i don't know much about apple, so no trashing on them), how about a poll on S-pen, do you actually use it...that will give a more accurate figure. half of these poll are from people with non pen devices, another portion of them have not used an S-pen in their lives(and no watching it on youtube is useless)...

I definitely love the S-pen's functionality and added features. It's what makes the Note series special and can't be imitated by the Chinese and even by LG with their passive pen.

I'm in with the S-Pen but like it better on larger screens like the Tab A (which I am planning to buy). Hope to see the Tab S3 later this year with an S-Pen included.

Cell, 31 Jul 2016S Pen is a must have. Sometimes essential in web browsing. ... moreWell I still have the finger hover view with the Note 3. Samsung took that out so we have to use the S Pen.

I have note 4 and I don't use its pen. I did in March - I bought it when my previous s3 died after 3+ years of faithful service. But then I had to use my mobile in a bus and as usual used the pen which is pretty stupid in such a place. It didn't work so well. A nice person sitting next to me managed to catch my pen for me while my mobile fell on my knees and I was lucky it didn't fall on the floor. That was the last time I used the pen and now I no longer need it. Fingers work, too - and it's safer for me AND my mobile. I bought it in a shop (full price, no contract) so I don't think I can afford another mobile this year with or without a contract if it's broken or dead.

More like, what do you need from a phone? In phone you got more things that you will probably ever use, and note got the most(camera button excluding). Do not know like you, but I did grow up learning alphabet using pen(writing) and not computer/?. Shame there is no new note tablet flagship from samsung, maybe later this year, pen androids from samsung are way cheaper than that from microsoft/apple.

Features and functional could be done by apps and finger. S-pen could be more precision than finger.
The S-pen and Note, there are size problem, Tiny Pen and Tiny Screen.
Firmware size is Bulky, Ram size require is higher than usual.

S Pen is a must have. Sometimes essential in web browsing. Where drop down menus are. Hoover the s-pen above the menu and it will open. Can`t do that with finger. And also S note writing with pen is more easy ect...

AnonD-125218, 31 Jul 2016For the last 5 generations S line was only around 5 inch.. ... moreAnd let's not forget those who buy this as a show off device without ever needing the S Pen...
Note series is a tool, not jewelry.

The screen off writing feature they added to the note 5 made it extra useful. Not having to load up the note app or turning the phone on is amazing.

For the last 5 generations S line was only around 5 inch.. so people had to buy the note series for a 5.7 inch flagship.. even if they didn't need the s-pen. This year it's different.. they have the s7 edge almost similar to the size of note.. this year note series will be bought by majority of those who need the s-pen..

THe whole point of a Note is the pen. Other than that it is just a similar device to Samsung's S line.
I didn't get a Note last year because I'm in the UK and Samsung didn't bother with us. I did NOT want an S6 Edge that they somehow thought would be appropriate for us. Daft, I call it.
