Nokia N8 gets lots of stick in early reviews, we wonder why

thats exactly what i mean with my previous posts, nokia hardware is not that good compared with other brands like HTC, motorola, and sony ericsson. i think if n8 would be overclocked to 1ghz it will be able to run froyo, but definitely not gingerbread for it requires 512mb ram, and main side effect is the battery life... so i suggest on buying s8500 wave instead of n8 and that is a wiser decission.

what are you talking about? n900, IMO, is a good phone, but still is lacking... ive heard news that an IOS was successfully ported to that phone, but due to its poor hardware being unable to compensate with IOS, the phones lags... so you see, most nokia phones are only good outside, but on the inside it really is not that good. i'd prefer the hardware of HTC, motorola, and sony ericsson over nokia, i mean they focus more on stuffs like battery, ui, ram, and other much more important features of a phone than with what you see in a phone itself like the softwares...

First to note is the N8′s
image sizes. They’re
incredibly compact. 12MP
images are around 1-2MB.
In comparison, the i8910
form samsung has 8MP at
3-4MB with the Panasonic
Lumix TZ10 (camera) at a
hefty 5MB for its 12MP
shooter.
With file compression, you
loose a touch of detail.
Remarkably that ’s less
evident with the N8. This
mod unfurls the
compression from a slight
1-2MB to 11MB.
Just bask in that heavily
noise reduced image. Look
at the leaves and the
clarity of the licence plate
at this crop. Now the N8
has very high detail
anyway (despite what
engadget shows in their
tests), and it would be
interesting to see a
comparison image of non-
hacked N8.

I know this is not the place to post this, but I have just posted yesterday here about my experience with iPhone 4 and mentioned that I didn't like the fact that video calls are available only to another iPhone and only through the WIFI. Today, in GsmArena under the iPhone 4 comments section I read a comment from a friend telling about a new application from Fringe (I think I got the name right) and it is now possible to make video calls to any other device working on any other operating system as well (!!) Quite impressive, I have to give it a try as soon as I get my hands on it :-) It's sure make my experience with the iPhone 4 better than it used to be.
Sorry again for posting this here but I didn't want the chance of someone reading my previous post and thinking that I was one of those misleading people posting their fake experience here and there.

But that's not the real issue here.
From the same article you copied, they mentioned that "... this is the biggest mobile manufacturer..." which has significat indications. They wouldn't have reached such a position if the top line units production (the N series) are "hardly ordinary", you need to be fair as well. I would agree with you if the comment was "N8 is not ground breaking device", "N8 might be a tep in the right direction from Nokia" but ordinary is a bit too much underetimating the (yet to be experienced) device :-)
You should have a look at the confirmed technical specifications like USB on the go, Bluetooth 3, FM transmitter along with a new setup on Symbian devices in terms of higher speed processor and increased RAM. I know that the numbers of Symbian 3 features are not even close to the huge ones we see in other HTC or Samsung or iPhone (1Ghz, +512 RAM...etc), but from a Symbian OS point of view, the numbers used now (be it speed or RAM) are good enough to produce good overall results with an important point kept in mind, power consumption. The higher processor speed does give you higher performance without any doupt, but at the cost of higher power consumption as well.
They are just different ways representing the phylosophy of the manufacturer and their vision of the device, which one to choose is completely up to the buyer / user.

But on the other hand, I'm using the iPhone, Nokia E90 and Samsung Omnia II currently and they all manage to get the connection settings without me having to do anything at all. It is for sure and important issue as not all of us are well familiar with the required network settings, but again, it's not just the iPhone that can do it. :-)

Still waiting. It's late, I want to see if the battery is good or not, That's all what mostly care because I leave my msn messenger on all the time, so I need really a good battery, that will at least last from the early morning till bed time!
If this is not the case with N8, I'll just stick with E72!

As an intellegent creature, why don't you educate us with your great knowledge of operating systems and tell us why you are against Symbian? and maybe if you still have some time tell us as well the greatness of other operating systems too? Did you actually use them and got deeply involved in their details to the level that makes you a source of judgement?
Android is a great operating system, but with all respect to your high intellegence, if we took the example of computers / laptops, we have several operating systems, namely the Windows and MAC OS, can you tell which is better and which is not? (This is a hypothetical question by the way, you don't need to answer it at all, better concentrate on the knowledge you have on mobile phone operating systems).
Many have criticised Android when it first came out, and look where they are today, They managed not to only live to the standards that others took years to reach, but they manage to compete with the ones already there.
Share your valued experience that led you the conclusion you posted before and come back again (or don't, it doesn't really matter), but if you do, make syre to read the rules for posting here as this is respected site.
