android is built on Linux platform and Linux is the Virus free OS in the world. Vulnerablities or viruses will not affect android smartphones. Before installing an app read the permissions that it asks and we'll get to know what are the info they get access to.

Please don't speak about security. Android is secure as well as others. They will fix it. I checked it with mentioned app and it showed that my phone isn't affected by that virus.

This is why iOS is so preferred. Well, one reason indeed, beside its lucidity, reliability, amazing battery managememnt (oh I had nexus 5x and it could remain at max 4 hours, now i have 6s with 40% less battery capacity which remains 6+ hours on screen :) and yes the screen of 5x is larger but so so dimmer)

S7 Edge Yay, 09 Aug 2016I have used 3 of the 4 major O/S Android, BB 10 OS and Wi... moreThe only reason BB10 and W10 phones are not in the news is because nobody bothered to find a hole in those OS. No OS is perfect even in the latest update. Hackers will find a hole and the security team will patch it. And the cycle goes on. Most of the time it's the good hackers(hired by security companies) found the weakness and they will report and keep it a secret from public until it is patched as per the news article. The only danger is when a bad hacker found an exploit.

WC, 08 Aug 2016Actually, this is a Qualcomm problem, given that it seems e... moreI have used 3 of the 4 major O/S
Android, BB 10 OS and Windows 8, so being a two phone owner TWO different OS on two different phone
The best looking phone ever is the S6 Edge & S7 Edge
Just on operating systems the best is BB 10
What you have to understand is BB 10 is secure, Windows 8, Windows 10 is secure, malware cannot be installed on either
Security patches are not needed on either yet Android dominates the market
Monthly security updates have to be released by Android just to counter the threats on Android
Take a look at the article even Blackberry probably the phone maker that is synonymous with security new phone is advertised as the most secure Android phone is also affected
900, 000,000 Android phones susceptible and for the people who have not been hacked or are nit concerned you're too low down for someone to direct an attack at you
I hope that Blackberry note this and release new BlackBerrys' in addition if it still want to supply Android phone
These security stories can't be found in Gsmarena for Blackberry

Anonymous, 08 Aug 2016i wish you lucky with note 7 and with that virus friendly OSnot a virus friendly os. you don't seem to understand, this is not an android problem, the issue is the software interface to the underlying hardware. Its as least as safe as ios anyway, according to a massive amount of knowlegable posters on here, on tpol of that.

I mean, it's not surprising, in September 2010, the free version of ZoneAlarm started showing a "Global Virus Alert" popup as a SCAREWARE tactic to get users to switch to their paid security suite.
