Samsung pulls out the Galaxy S Froyo update due to bugs?

21 October, 2010
As you probably know last week Samsung released the official update that takes the I9000 Galaxy S to Android 2.2 for the Scandinavian region. But just as we thought that worldwide availability is a matter...

Alui, 21 Oct 2010I just hope Samsung fired the guys who wrote Kies. They should fire the whole team behind it. And the decision makers, too. Unfortunately, still the same people in charge. Maybe because the guys in the management don´t really use KIES and other stuff themselves, even the worst mistakes are successfully hidden from them. I´ve seen this for years.

Samsung tends to fire pro-active, pro-consumer people... you have to be a silent follower, if not, you´re in trouble. And if you´re not Korean, it´s even worse.

This is ridiculous. Granted the Iphone gives you less control over the phone at least their software updates are universal. I am not a smart phone owner as I am still shopping but the I am beginning to see that one or two things are gonna happen. You are either gonna be confined to apple ways or strung along by googles empty promises.. so basically you are damned if you do or damned if you dont eh? ha

Let me give you an insight on what I've discovered with Android Market and Apple App Store. I was happy for this discovery being a previous iphone owner.

We all know iphone has only 32gb max and no memory expansion. Galaxy S can give you 48gb max = 16 internal + 32 external.

Those who have both this phones now, try downloading an identical premium 3d game from gameloft, glu etc.

..you would discover the same game where android format for ex, only required 30mb of space to install while on iphone format was a surprising 110mb of space requirement. It was the same game of same version. WHY DIFFER IN FILE SIZE?! :|

..ehem!..any clues?!..I haven't tried comparing with other apps. See for yourselves. Very large file size yet the game runs smoother on android.

..the point is you have more space for more Apps in Galaxy S-like smartphones. Still an expandable microsd is simply awesome. You don't need to delete apps ang mp3 music just to save some memory for newer files.

..that's why I'm not giving up on Android and Galaxy S! ;>

..just see for yourselves.. Pound4Pound #1 Android phone.

It's like Manny Pacqauio "Galaxy S" vs Floyd Maynever "iPhone4"!

..CHEER UP GUYS! ..for those who updated to Froyo now, download lagfix at android market. It might work. =>

cmon guys android is the best among all the OS available. you cannot blame android bcoz of inefficiency of samsung. galaxy s is the lynchpin of samsung which can take up and down the company.

My eclair running SGS is far better than any other phone. Yes there is some lag but it doesn't dissapoint me that much. I don't know why so many people are upset Samsung pulled off the update. They are definitely gonna do it after they fix the lag issues. Waiting is better than a lagging froyo.

                            relax guys!..=)

Galaxy S was just out in the market 3-4 months ago. Many of us were satisfied with 2.1 Eclair. Even though there are some issues with GPS, lagging stuff..etc. Other phone brands do have their shortcomings too.

Samsung indeed made a promise of Froyo update sooner, they just didn't test that well. At least they admitted that the update has bugs and pulled-out froyo files from servers immediately. Well Apple initially denied iPhone4 antenna issues and tried to escape with free bumper mania. We all know the truth but now they have already fixed it with the new units.

SE took months before finally making Eclair work for X10. I also liked this phone. Its such that when Galaxy S was released I had the money to afford it.

We must not hate Samsung if ever Froyo will delay up to next year. The more we wait, the more is expected from them. Pressuring them would only make things worse. At least once they release Froyo very soon and if we found out still its worse than Eclair. I'll be one of the first to make HARSH remarks!..bwahaha..So better do better this time SAMSUNG! ;/

I feel sorry for the Omnia HD users but I guess the Android Market competing with Apple App Store is the reason developers did not push through with its updates. Android platform is more appealing profit wise. Yes Samsung deserves to be blamed for this one.. I think we just have to be wise on what are the trends in technology ang make decisions on the best devices that can overcome them. It's like buying a laptop with specs that can handle xp, vista and win 7.

Android is still a young os yet very promising. Consider it like Apple's OSX in its early stages. We must thank Samsung and other Smartphone makers for making affordable products that compete with expensive iPhone yet superb in features.

Absence of competition will only make Apple work on very few new features because they knew they will dominate sales anyway. A monopolist-like. Who would like that?!

Samsung Galaxy S is the first true iPhone competitor that can give Steve Jobs headaches. It pressures them now to make revolutionary changes to iphone. If not for Samsung Super-Amoled display, we could not have iPhone Retina Display now!

If not for Samsung Galaxy S competitive pricing, iPhone 4 could be worth much expensive now!..let's give credit to Samsung for that.

» just don't let us WAIT TOO LONG SAMSUNG. You deserve a second chance.. Frozen Yogurt!.. We're salivating! ;>
