My gut reaction - Im happy atleast they pulled out. Now we can hope, certainly for something more better.

Samsung still stuffed just like motorola did and people are claerly not happy! Stop trying to defend the Galaxy Shit. No one cares if only Your galaxy s supposedly "flies, it is blazing fast", most others don't. Many reviews do mention that in some areas of the phone, galaxy s does lag even with 1ghz.

Samsung do 5 million customers a favour
1) ditch RFS
2) ditch kies
3) Give us an option to install vanilla android on our handsets. (without voiding warranty)
4) In future don't raise expectations that you can't meet.
This is quite simple no rocket science required here.
Excellent hardware and crappy software don't go hand in hand.
And finally don't pose as SGS users and post positively on these forums.

I am disappointed with Samsung. I was truly excited to pick up a vibrant. I can live with eclair, please give me flash support. LOL, just get rid of KIES!!!!!!!!!

I have SGS with 2.1, love it. those who blame it are either: never had SGS in their hands or are apple fanboys who know deep inside that SGS nails iphone4 for many reasons....
SE fanboys lough because of delays in releasing 2.2 update? go have fun with your X10 with bluish display and Android 1.6....
SGS lags? mine flies, it is blazing fast. GPS problems? mine locks within 1 min when I am driving at 40km/h.Never wanted 2.2, flash support? well iphone never had it in first place and never will have it so be silent! complaining about cheap and plastic body? go **** yourself, having 4" display and weighting just 119g is technological marvel....
SGS+Eclair is THE best smartphone currently available in the market, period. how many phones can play 720P DivX video and stream it to HDTV via DLNA?

I just found out that the phone needs to be REBOOT THREE (3) times after all the running apps are force closed or killed in order to get the 2.1 update or Froyo up running free of lags and hang.
It worked for me (rooted Vibrant).

I don't know if I'm lucky or what?
I've updated 5 days ago to Froyo 2.2 through Kies (yes through Kies and kies works perfectly for me).
it works perfectly, not a single lag or bug whatsoever!
Restarted it manually twice after the update, didn't lost any application that I had on 2.1, added launcher pro and the phone REALLY ROCKS!!
I don't understand why you are crying here and blame samsung..others suggest other phones, X10, E72..Hahahaha, just stupid!
For the newbies, you can get froyo through ODIN, there's many tutorials..just google it!

Re Kies programming group - or at least makes them update all devices that come in to be repaired after having to install kies new each time on a system that rejected the first install LOL

Avoid all these issues and get a Nokia Symbian device! :D
(I actually have no desire usually to play these childish games but the repeated presence of Alui trolling in the N8 threads on here and singing the praises of Android left me with little choice)

And the decision... moreI've sent yesterday an e-mail to the people from Samsung.com(not samsungmobile.com), tellig them that Samsung risks putting 5 million SGS user in a Samsung brand hate if they do not fix the problems with Kies and SGS, and that will affect their sales of PC, TV's etc. I told them to check the forums like the ones on GSMArena. They told me that they forwarded the e-mail to the higher management, and BANG, today Froyo was withdrawn.
