Samsung pulls out the Galaxy S Froyo update due to bugs?

21 October, 2010
As you probably know last week Samsung released the official update that takes the I9000 Galaxy S to Android 2.2 for the Scandinavian region. But just as we thought that worldwide availability is a matter...

This is the very reason I go with Desire and not with SGS. Because I knew that Samsung is lousy when it comes to firmware support. And I think Bada will suffer too.

Actually Samsung hasn't verified any dates for froyo. Those are just rumors. My galaxy s run quite fast with recent froyo. Browser is little slow to scroll, but so it is with Desire with android 2.2.

What a shame from Samsung? Again delivered an empty promise. Please reassure all systems run properly before announcing the launch date. A particular company is always working hard to deliver the best user experience :D Yet people are complaining how slow they implement the update :(

Galaxy S User, 21 Oct 2010Thanks. I actually use the standard Galaxy S home. I mig... moreI'm really happy with this phone( i used many brands before including apple iphone isucks)
in terms of hardware, no other android phone can match the galaxy S
I have no problem to connect it to Kies, it recognizes it instantly.

I'm using Windows 7 64 bits and have the latest samsung Kies version 1.5.3.10093_82
Try "Ctrl+Alt+Delete" and stop all kies processes, uninstall it and reinstall it again from samsung website to get the latest version.

Just as what I've been expecting..

GOOD SAMSUNG for finally discovering their FROYO update bugs.

Let's not put them down and give them a chance.. besides Galaxy S was the first android phone that really strived to compete with iPhone. Galaxy S was great in specs and priced fairly against the iPhone.

Here are the top 10 features that I like best on Galaxy S compared to iphone:

                1. First, the screen.. Super Amoled 4.0 display is really a charm.
                2. Most Android apps esp.3d games work better than in other androids.
                3. The Music Player is great esp. if you know the best custom settings. I experimented with mine and the sound was 3d-like (but you have to use decent earphones)
                4. Battery is user replaceable.
                5. live wallpapers surely brings out the beauty of super amoled screen.
                6. You can send files to almost all bluetooth-enabled phones
                7. The camera interface has smile-shutter, face-detection, autofocus and various settings that brings out great snapshots.
                8. You can make video calls both on 3G and wifi.
                9. Video player accepts almost all video types unlike apple sticking to mp4 format.
                10. of course.. up to 32gb micro-sd expansion! eat that Apple! c",)

=> yes, many don't like plasticky feel of Galaxy S. It may look cheap but that makes the phone lightweight and very comfortable watching for long movies.. and besides don't we put silicone case to make it beautiful.. that adds just enough weight. imagine the iPhone 4, very sleek.. you can easily drop it. you need to put protective case that makes it a lot heavier.

=> in fairness to apple, it has the best software and support. I used to own an Apple 2g, I jailbroke it. And I was happy for 3 years using it. But having the same 3.5 inch screen makes it evolutionary rather than revolutionary.

====I JUST HOPE IT WON'T TAKE LONG FOR A BUG-FREE FROYO UPDATE ====

I actually use the standard Galaxy S home. I might just bite the bullet and format my SD Card. Kies software and the whole Android market is badly designed - which is a shame as the hardware is amazing. Samsung seriously need to now focus their future strategy on developing the apps side of their business. Phones without quality apps and usability is like a leg amputee having a ferrari. Great to look at the car but shame they can't drive it.

Time for me to leave Android and it's buggy fragmented os and move on to Windows Phone 7 which is fast and without bugs. Goodbye poor slow phone, you won't be missed.

This is why i love Nokia always ;).

Still nokia is supporting my bit old E72 and now i am a proud owner.
Though symbian^3 is faster than old symbian smartphones, UI is bit outdated.

But i am sure i ll get updates for N8 when symbian^3 gets released.

or if you don't a 3rd party home, just reintall the drivers and it will work normally.
I hope that this can help.

I have updated mine on september 16th through Kies and don't have any bug or lag at all!
it works as it should be, so fast.
I don't understand why some users experience those bugs.
The phone became now a real machine..it Rocks!

I have a problem just getting the latest version of Kies to identify my phone when i plug it in. It continually shows "Connecting..." but never actually connects. I know many people have had this problem - is there a simple solution? I heard unmounting the internal SD Card and even formatting it... but surely there is a better solution.
