Dovice, 11 Oct 2016Wrong, no one was hurt or died thanks to the Note 7. And mo... moreActually you're wrong, to abruptly discontinue a product within 8 weeks of release means that there is significantly wrong with their products on the basis they will lose millions from this, but they also know that if there don't do anything, then the long term confidence about reliability in minds of consumers will eradicate Samsung market share

Anonymous, 11 Oct 2016 I work for one of the big three as a customer support in C... moreand can u give the % of phones bought monthly? i bet they're like 90% Android and from them more than 50% alone are Samsungs, hence the more options for people to have to go for after sale service (some of them might be really dumb as well but they're just a few)

Hurry to produce 7th series before 6th in order to compete with iPhone and other rivals, and now you have a dead star. I was considering to buy Note 7 and now I'm not gonna buy it or it's successors. Galaxy S was the last phone I bought from Samsung, now I remember why I left it. "Sell, no service, no update, fast depreciation" that's the motto of Samsung, in my opinion.

Samsung makes shirty devices but the Note line is splendid and powerful in each and every aspect. If this all blowing things would have happened to other series say J series I would be cheering but with Note series this is heart breaking. No matter how I hate samsung, I will keep loving Note series. Anyway samsung is a huge industry. Besides making phones it makes chipsets, oled displays, pcs, televisions, acs and manufactures military appliances in South Korea. Besides those there are many things It manufactures which we are unware of.It is very big industry. So it will learn it's lesson and recover very soon. Hope other manufacturers learn a thing or too from this and do thorough testing before launching their product.

I think this is a good decision made by Samsung. If they still insist to sell Note7, the brand name would be damaged eventually.

Samsung should be happy. They now skipped Note 6 and 7 and is ahead of Apple now with 8.

CPSC should make it illegal to sell and resell Note 7 so people won't try to sell it on eBay and Samsung to push an update that brick all Note 7s.

AnonD-7834, 11 Oct 2016I'm bleeding from within here. This world isn't any fair so... moreThis is not a small mistake, but carelessness from Samsung who wanted to race against the Apple iphone and failed (as usual). They didn't test the original note 7s nor did they even test the replacements. They were desperate again now that replacements came after iPhone 7s. They didn't even bother testing them, they have no one to blame but themselves.

"...So the top brass at Samsung Electronics Co., including phone chief D.J. Koh, decided to accelerate the launch of a new phone they were confident would dazzle consumers and capitalize on the opportunity, according to people familiar with the matter. They pushed suppliers to meet tighter deadlines, despite loads of new features, another person with direct knowledge said..."
"...As the launch date approached, employees at Samsung and suppliers stretched their work hours and made do with less sleep. Though it’s not unusual to have a scramble, suppliers were under more pressure than usual this time around and were pushed harder than by other customers, according to a person with direct knowledge of the matter. One supplier said it was particularly challenging to work with Samsung employees this time, as they repeatedly changed their minds about specs and work flow..."
Doesn't look small to me.
