Can't Samsung just make a new model of the Galaxy Note7, maybe a Note7 Neo? Get people interested? Make it safer and maybe make it better than the iPhone 7 Plus (not saying it wasn't already)?

And you're wrong,Nokia failed because they made bad choices in terms of Os,and really Nokia couldn't make a good phone lol!..,even with Windows Nokia 930,1020,1520 were great "Smart Phones" except the great apps part ,and even with Symbian, and meego N8,N9 were great phones and contained fetures ahead of it's time..
Go home kid do some research..

They've proved their the best in making FEATURE phones.
But this is 2016, the era of smartphones. Nokia failed because they couldn't make a good phone, that could attract customers.

AnonD-456829, 11 Oct 2016It is a big blow to Samsung. The best note in the note seri... moreAgreed the Note 4 was the best in the perhaps now dead Note series (I highly doubt the line can continue) and is an absolute classic Android device.

In fact I think Samsung should have stuck with the 'Premium/functional' hybrid style design language they used on the Note 4 and Galaxy Alpha, there was no need to go further down the Premium road like they did as from the Galaxy S6.

What perhaps might have been salvaged had the Note 7 featured a user removable battery?, guess we'll never know.

Poor Samsung. Despite I hate their design (non-removable battery, glass back, curved screen), I feel sorry for them. Despite they made efforts in attempt to fix the problem wih replacement devices, they ended up discontinuing the Note 7.

I just don't agree on the writer's opinion on pulling the plug from the very beginning.
Electronics is a complicated thing, add politics and money then you'll have virtually infinite variables to consider for making a decision. Developing and manufacturing costs a lot of money so one cannot just plug the plug if the problem is not prevalent and obvious.

They just chose to withdraw to avoid tarnishing the Samsung brand which might affect other products despite the problem affecting a minuscule percentage of all Note 7's.

I agree they have to move on with Note 8 (being flat or curved screen or removable battery or whatever), but before doing that, what is the root cause of the issue... I want to know if holding anyother samsung phone is safe or not....
