It's funny how Americans are so concerned about safety when it comes to Note7 while on the other hand, anybody can buy guns there, people can walk around with guns, and that is totaly fine. No safety concerns there

Stondec100, 14 Oct 2016Your comment is one of the dumbest and most alarmist I've r... moreNo, your comment is more dumb. I didn't say using Iphone is safe. I just say the people that say the fact that Note 7 is safe to use is dumb. Not to mention every phone from every company exploded before. What are you trying to say when you tell me Iphone is also exploding? Blame Apple? Samsung is innocent? The fact that they themself the manufacturer cannot even find the cause of incident is their mistake already. Tell me Iphone bends? They actually have a solution to that. That's treat your phone like a piece of paper or buy the I-roller.
BTW, what are you trying to say "No, the phone doesn't explode or catch fire. We've only seen cases of the phone overheating and melting." Go google search. the title there shows Note 7 explodes. When you say phone do not explode or catrch fire already means that you are a total fool. Tell Youtube, Google and all other search engine, Note 7 did not explode only OVERHEATS!

AnonD-551566, 14 Oct 2016i was about to comment that post but good job on the reply,... moreHey, thanks.. It feels like I'm fighting for people to keep using their Note 7 or something, but really, I'd just like some kind of perspective.. I just don't think people are really understanding the issue, and I'm still ticked about losing the 7.
In all honesty, I'd be comfortable keeping it, but with Samsung pulling the line, there will be no updates..

AnonD-551566, 14 Oct 2016i was about to comment that post but good job on the reply,... moreI was too sooo tired of what the media made it look like. Sure , for everyones safety everyones gotta know, but media(especially the US one) made it look like a "fiasco", like the end of the world loll ,although every manufacturer makes faults, amd each lithium ion battery can explode. There was just a higher chance with Samsung.
I became so sick of seeing those "fiasco" news on every media.
In the end, for Samsung , its more of a media and brand reputation damage tahn a technical and economical one.

AnonD-196068, 14 Oct 2016I should think it is lot more likely in a device that has b... moreOne thing to understand is that, if you work in the industry doing support, these incidents and recalls are not at all uncommon. You just don't hear about them. The incident I mentioned below happened a month or two ago, it involved a major computer manufacturer, and I doubt there was ever a single mention of the battery recall in the news, even though it effected I believe 8 laptops in our organization with 4 pulled batteries showing obvious signs of swelling (including the one that went runaway sitting by itself on a desk). The Note 7 incidents were high compared to standard failure rates across all devices, but, also, there were a ton of the devices in user hands by the time the first reports came in.
We're comfortable with this battery technology, we use it every where, but if you look at the manual for every single one of those units, you'll find somewhere the line that says to never charge it unattended, and there IS a reason for that.
Again, I'm not telling people to keep using their Note 7, I'm not telling people not to turn it off and go get something else, I'm just saying that the way this issue is being reported about, and looked at, is WAY out of proportion to reality.

If the cause really was only with the battery and not also internals of the phone then perhaps in due time 3rd party batteries that work will become available like from Anker or similar.

Who in the right mind would want to carry and talk to a ticking melting exploding grenade??
I wouldn't use one of those now if they gave it for free and pay me extra!
I'm almost always falling asleep with my Sony in the bed, under the pillow or such. Just imagine what would happen if you fall asleep with the Nuclear 7.
Also, stop being selfish and think about the others around you! I'f I'd see someone using an N7 in the plane I'm in I would bi...ch slap him so hard he thought he fell from the plane!

i, as well, am a little tired and frustrated when they use the term "explode" when it honnestly catches fire but oh well, papers gotta sell...
and for jackjones (if he reads this as well) the "Can you guarantee 100% that in the next 6 months another 20 or 30% of them won't go up in the same way?" can be reversed too... can u guarantee 100% that the percentage of defectives phones won't go down even more having in mind that there are 10% more note 7 users?? if those don't catch fire then the ratio is even lower
i do feel sad for the company (i've always had samsung besides my first phone Motorolla) and i'm waiting for their conclusion on why they were defective in the first place as well
greetings ^_^

AnonD-597712, 14 Oct 2016Can you say, in the next six months, that across all the de... moreI should think it is lot more likely in a device that has been deemed unsafe by the manufacturer and where several such incidents have happened already.
I take your point about fixing the issue but the credibility of the device was gone by the time the announcement was made and time was no longer on their side by then either. It was simply too late. What other choice did they really have at that point? I was looking to potentially get one myself but by the time the announcement was made they were discontinuing it I had lost faith that Samsung were likely to fix it in a reasonable timescale and it would forever be tarnished in my mind and I am sure I would not be the only one thinking like that.
