Most of these comments are written by people paid by phone companies to spread disinformation and attack the competition whilst pretending to be a normal consumer.

If the cause really was only with the battery and not also internals of the phone then perhaps in due time 3rd party batteries that work will become available like from Anker or similar.

Fair play to the people that are defiant & sticking with their Note 7. Just be careful & I would turn off the quick charge whilst charging.

I can see why Samsung have opted for this but in all honesty, not all the Note 7's that were sold are going to start smoking are they.

AnonD-196068, 14 Oct 2016Can you guarantee 100% that in the next 6 months another 20... moreCan you say, in the next six months, that across all the devices that use Lithium Ion batteries, that we won't see as many, or more such issues?
Samsung saying that users immediately power down their devices relieves them of legal responsibility in this case.
I'm not condoning, or encouraging people to keep using the device, what bothers me is the 'OMG, it's going to EXPLODE!' sensationalism going on, when, in actuality, it can happen with any phone. The incidents are higher with the Note 7, but it's also a very popular phone that is likely to be more heavily used, there's also more chance of it being used, or mis-used, over time.
With this kind of sensationalism going on, it's my opinion that Samsung had no choice but to pull the whole line rather than resolve the issue.

Once recall is over and people want to still use it, then whatever happens is on them. If your car, house burns down dont be suing samsung because you chose to use a defective phone

Just because one hasn't failed in this way yet doesn't mean it never will does it. Perhaps the ones thus far are just the first of many to follow. Can you 100% say otherwise, especially given the manufacturer has gone as far as to say turn them off immediately?

AnonD-567503, 14 Oct 2016So many Idiots saying "Do you know only 5/2000000 Note 7 ca... moreThere are some things that you should understand. The Samnsung recall was a good idea for the company, but not for the reason you think. The recall is about preserving Samsung's reputation more than it is about safety.
Look at the numbers.. Based on the number of units in the field for the Note 7, and the number of incidents before and after the first recall, the chances that a Note 7 is going to have a runaway battery issue is something like 1 in 25000.. Let's put that in perspective, you are more likely to get struck by lightning, or die in a car accident. Also, the cause is not known, engineers jumped on the battery, but that doesn't seem to be the case. As an IT person, I tend to look at 2.5m users as a whole bunch of monkies (don't take offense, I'm one of those users), out of that number, it's not surprising that there are a few that have done just the right thing, or just the right combination of use and hardware to cause an event, but see the probability above.
As to exploding, the term has always bothered me, and, you need to understand how water RESISTANT phones work, and why they talk about depth/time of submerging. The phones are not air tight, for the microphone and speakers to work efficiently, there is a mesh grill with very tiny holes that allow the air and sound to pass through. These holes are small enough that the surface tension of water will keep it from passing through until the pressure exceeds a certain point. So you haven't seen any images of flying shrapnel or any actually exploding Note 7. The word 'exploding' just sells papers and online adds, and I have to think less of any author who would use the term, it just means they are trying to sensationalize the issue.
The overall situation is sad right now, there isn't a comparable phone on the market right now. I bought it primarily for note taking and artwork, so there isn't any other phone with the internals AND a pressure sensitive stylus on the market right now, the Stylo 2 just doesn't match up, so I'm still on the bench, AND waiting to see what Samsung does, it's still possible they could identify the issue, and there are still numbers supporting people desiring the device.
Edit: I should add that while the phones do not explode, and the design of the case tends to keep the battery runaway internalized to the phone, the heat of a thermal runaway is very high, we've had a laptop LiOn battery go up here after sitting on a desk for a couple of days out of the computer, and the metal backing was glowing a nice cherry red, plenty hot enough to catch surrounding material on fire.

something fishy about that note7 hoax .. 7 years of using samsung's galaxy phones ... yes their entry lvl ones almost useless & their midrange ones offer so-so exp. ... but when it comes to "flagships" ... samsung's galaxy flagships are the ruling gods atop Olympus .. huge conspiracy staged by other competitors

These articles are so stupid. The article shouldn't be about Note7 owners refusing to turn off or return their devices it should be about all of the chaos Samsung has created for cell-phone providers and how even if you want to return your exploding phone it's nearly impossible to do so because all of the providers can't figure out how to do it! I've been trying to return my Note7 for 2 weeks and have been to 3 different Sprint stores...Outrageous. Oh well...at least I get $25 for my trouble...right?

having said that... yeah it's really silly to keep the phone but i can understand the lack of help in some countries (as i've read below) it's a major turn down to replace it when u compare with the rest giving cash or gift cards, even so, they should return them in any way the can, afterall, $100 in gift card is not worth taking the chance of burning

Some of Note7 users are keeping their phone regardless of what Samsung announced. For me Samsung already informed users about it but incase they don't want to return their phone then it's up to them, you don't have to criticize N7 users if they still have this phone. For me the N7 is just brilliant, that even though it catches fire with just an effort to safely use then it's the coolest phone for them.

Seems you didn't see the video of the man that was charging his Note 7 in his car and it exploded destroying the car. What if he was inside when it happened? He only just left the car for a few minutes when it happened. He also said that his little daughter always plays with the phone in the backseat of the car. What if the daughter was there when it happened? Please don't be ignorant safety first! The company that made the phone and are recalling and cancelling it aren't stupid.

People are probably hanging onto them because they are great devices. It's the best phone out there bar none. Samsung should take its times, fix it properly and release the Note 7.5/Note 7s.
