Anonymous, 31 Dec 2010Because you didn't mention a single Motorola phone, which f... moreI didn't mention Motorola 'cause I don't have one and I only described my own experience, didn't you notice? In 2004-2007 I was using NEC phones, compliant with my carrier's data offers, and in 2008 I used my first and last Samsung phone. Besides, I said that all non i-thing brands are already compliant, that is including Motorola. Moreover, any format that combines data and charging would have done the job, the invention of Motorola is good but the fact that other brands (under strong EU pressure) agreed upon already existing format is the most important.

Whatever the standard, the internal jack in the phone should be robust and easily replaceable. I hated when the fastport on my P990 broke but then the warranty guy just took it out and popped a new one without any kind of solder and it works like new. If only N900 was robust in this sence.

the news only says your phone must charge from a microUSB.
The chargers we're using will jus' have a design changed.
it may be the fixed wire adapter with microUSB for all phone charger.
or
Rather then fixed charging adapter, the microUSB will connect to a adapter for wall mount charging.
this design is already found in some phones charging kit.
only thing is changed that its become standarized in europe. (may be become globally later)
1st good news for 2011 :)

user123, 31 Dec 2010this is a good idea but many people who dont have a compute... moreGuess you never used one...
That means when you buy a new phone, the phone would come with a wall "adaptor", where you can plug the data cable into, which connects to the wall socket, for mere charging.
If you have a computer next to you, all you need is take the data cable and connect to the computer (without the adaptor), and the cable can charge your phone (and allow data transfer).
Get it?
Can't believe so many are asking such 6 years old technology....

Those Apple fans need to learn to read.
EVEN APPLE SIGNED UP TO THE AGREEMENT. This means new devices manufactured after 01/01/2011 will have it (this also includes any new Apple iPhone devices).
