Yes, the lifespan of a screen is important to me. It's not messed up when LCD can last that long. Not like some of you, I plan on keeping my phone for more than 2 years. Or course we get screens to look at images and videos. The thing is I want to do it for a longer time. That's doable with LCD.
What? No. Did you actually read my comment? Yes it is not comfortable leave the screen on full brightness indoors, but what about outdoors? Being outdoors for hours is situational, yes I know that. But it's better to have something and not need it, than to need something and not have it.
Ok. But what about icons? Aren't they considered images as well? Most of the time they are static. The app drawer icon in particular. That's why burned in app drawer icon is the most noticeable burn in on the screen, along with other icons on the dock. So now I have to shuffle them time to time to avoid burn in? That's ridiculous. I don't want to baby my device all the time.
That's your preference. I prefer it to leave the screen brightness on auto. Most accurate colors? Lol, no. The iPhone 7 duo which uses LCD, actually have the most accurate mobile screen*. Plus, most people don't enjoy accurate colors. They prefer vivid, punchy saturated colors. Burn ins seem to be rare because people don't mention it on their reviews. Burn ins only arise generally after a year or more of usage. How many people keep track of this problem? By the time burn ins on a phone start to happen, people already get distracted by its new successor. Plus, OLED has other problems other than burn ins. I have already listed a few of them in my previous posts. You're still salty about the analogy? Lol. You misinterpreted it. I didn't say anything about not driving on the road. Work on your comprehension.
Burn ins don't appear as common because people don't cover them. It's actually more common than you thought.

AnonD-322352, 12 Dec 2016"If you don't leave the screen on with static image at full... moreWTF are you arguing then? You were so worried about burn-ins, I tell you burn-ins are not common, now it's about OLED being worse than LCDs? So life span of the screen makes or breaks deals for you? That's messed up, you don't get screens to have it last long. You get screens to look at images or videos. Like I said before, you're just complaining.
So all you have going for LCD is that you don't have to "worry" about burn-in while using your phone in full brightness for extended periods of time. Except for rare cases, people don't do this. To most eyes, it's super uncomfortable to stare at screen set to full brightness. And to stare at it for HOURS!?!?!
I would hate to leave static image on LCD screen because of the backlight. I sometimes leave my computer screen on and it brightens my whole room up while I tried to nap or sleep. OLED has a lot less light pollution.
Call me nuts for sliding the brightness scale up (takes half a second) when I need to and then sliding it down after I'm done (takes half a second). But in the meantime, OLED users enjoy most accurate colours (on mobiles), better sunlight eligibility, and better contrast. You keep worrying about burn-ins that rarely anyone gets. Kind of like "there's chance of death on the road, better not drive" analogy done right.
Burn-ins are not made up claims, they happen, but they are exaggerated as in it's less than 1% problem made to sound like 10% problem.

But that's the thing. Using AM/OLED, I have to take an extra care for the screen. With IPS LCD, I can be as reckless as I want. I can leave static images on the screen. I can use wallpapers with a lot of blue in it. I can enjoy VR without the SDE. I can pump out full brightness for as long as I want. I can enjoy the bright white on the UI. All of this without the worry of burn-in.

AnonD-322352, 12 Dec 2016Yes the analogy is a bit extreme. However, the point still ... moreNot really. If you don't leave the screen on with static image at full brightness for hours, it won't have burn-in issue. This issue is definitely overblown by the likes of you. Paranoid by minorities that misuse devices. People can buy OLED devices with confidence that the burn-in wouldn't be an issue within the device's lifetime.

Anonymous, 12 Dec 2016Yeah I never said that. You clearly can't read. Nice try thoughL. O. L. What a cheap trick.
You strongly implied that OLEDs don't burn-in by saying that your AMOLED devices don't have burn-ins and that my claims that burn-ins happen are "exaggerated crap" when it's not. Do you even hear yourself at this point? Plus, saying crap like this instead of actually putting forth arguments is pathetic. Honestly, I don't think you're even trying. Also, you forgot to counter my other post.

Blowing out of proportions? Burn-in is a very real issue. Deal with it. Also, I didn't say or even undermine that LCDs don't have issues of their own. Stop putting out things I didn't say.
I very well know what I'm talking. It's you here who's talking rubbish. Do you think that being all fanboyish over the tech will make it better? Maybe OLEDs would be free of any issues today if there's nobody like you to defend each and every one of their weaknesses.

It's not gonna take just a few strangers online with their anecdotal points to convince me that somehow AMOLED is better than LCD. OLEDs burn-in. Their subpixels age at an uneven rate. Tiny texts become grainy because of the diamond pentile matrix. Their colour accuracy worsen with time. Stop being in denial for God's sake.
