The screen resolution will be the same - 1440p - but there will be a lot more subpixels on the matrix.

AnonD-362903, 06 Dec 2016seems not worth it to upgradeYeah a 20% percent enlargement of the stuff that is used more on a phone (the screen) while using the same footprint ... What a waste, better upgrade meaningless things like putting the speakers on the front instead of the side (because we all know that we listen to music all the time on phone speakers) .... oh wait Samsung is not like HTC, they know what is important and what is not. Maybe that explains why HTC and her huge bezels are going down and Samsung is ascending further...

Both great moves, I just hope they don't make the screens too tall for single handed use. I think they might be going with a 17:9 aspect like Xiaomi did with the Mix, this would be part of the screen diagonal increase, but if they make all models too large it will be terrible for reaching the top of the screen in one handed use.

AnonD-614674, 07 Dec 2016Don't understand this physical button hate!!!!! WOW... I'm... moreOff screen buttons take space. Imagine if that place was used for screen. So when you'd been needing that space as buttons it would be exactly the same as having off screen buttons, but in games or movies they would tuck away.

It blows my mind how opposite people got that.

NoLies, 06 Dec 2016Bruh, VR on cellphones its a gimmick, the only thing that d... moreHave you used gear VR? For media consumpion it's actually better than Rift or Vive simply because it is less heavy and cordless. You don't need a whole PC to watch movies, TV shows and photos.

Lastly you can connect it to a PC and use it as an occulus rift (riftcat). So there is that too.

As far as I'm concerned the $1000 HMDs are the gimmick right now. Have their price, make them leave, kill screen door effect , give it more titles and then we talk. Right now Mobile VR is all there is, it's far cheaper too (just $99).

Bet you've never use on-screen before. Had my first on-screen device and never felt weird using it. In fact, it makes more sense when you rotate your device to landscape and the buttons sits nicely at the bottom instead of sticking to the left or right.

Hopefully samsung makes the s8 amazing. So that it'll be an indication of how amazing the note 8 will be.

Pretty good, Samsung is the best performer so far, next year Nokia will join the race. I bet Nokia won't be the winner at this stage.

Ultrasonic biometric, are u kidding me?. Shouldn't samsung be researching on how to avoid their next flagship device from exploding?. Why the hasty implementation of beneath the screen scanner,I just hope this doesn't turn out to be a world wide recall program like what happened to Note 7.

If they remove it, htc is back with buttons instead of the stupid on screen buttons. I will switch back. Had the one x, s4 , s5, s6 edge and s7 edge, no home button no s8

The physical button saved me million times in darkness.
Not to mention that onscreen buttons take display space, and as they are software , they put you in trouble many times.
If Samsung really mean to remove it will be bad.

Samsung finally followed Apple as usual while other Android OEMs removed it over 5-6 years ago! Physical button will never work again. Wear and tear. Happened to so many iPhones prior to the 7.

What you should worry about more is no headphone jack. Samsung copies what Apple does. I will ignore both now when it comes to smartphones. But I wouldn't say I hate both of them as companies. I am using a 2015 MacBook as I type this while my Samsung TV is turned on while I binge on random episodes from Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead, Man Seeking Woman, Silicon Valley, and Angie Tribeca.

Both Apple and Samsung still have their forte that I admire but stick to LG when it comes to smartphones. Removable battery, microSD slot, and headphone should all be MANDATORY. I don't care if I can't change my phone for the next five years. My next smartphone better have all three. No excuses. No dongles. I refuse to adapt to these corporation's so-called courage and change to new standards

Hope Samsung do not take up much of screen by putting the home button on it,as Sony phones do not offer the Full screen and to much taken away from the screen on bottom bezel with there home button,Stereo speakers and hope there Dual Speakers not just a single speaker
