Anonymous, 27 Feb 2011Those countries you speak of are poor and uneducated. Nokia... moreSorry my friend you are badly misinformed :)

Nokia is well known to have had touch years ago (2004), this is public. And of course Symbian had P800/900 around the same time.

        http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nokia_7710

The problem is not that Nokia did not have these technologies, far from it. Any innovation in the market, chances are Nokia had it years before. The problem has been innovation leaving the organistion.

And talking of Apple, as much as I love Apple products the iPhone had no new innovation on touch, at least not in 2007. We still today have an icon driven UI, which has not changed much from Palm days. Which of course picked up where the Apple Newton left off.

Of course what Apple did so was make the UI experience so slick and a pleasure to use. That is Apple's strength.

So please check facts before making statements that are so misinformed.

Anonymous, 27 Feb 2011Those countries you speak of are poor and uneducated. Nokia... moreNokia had lots of touch prototypes before iPhone came out. In 2003 they even actually had the same pixel ammount in the 2 models shown in here as now XD. Imagine that. Same pixel ammount from year 2003 to present. Their touch phones had actually a better sensitivity in them compared to 5800 xpressmusic from 2008.

As I said before Nokia did so many things for the mobile market just like Apple did popularizing the touchscreen. How can you say that Nokia would be so stupid to innovante when iPhone 2G was released the same year as N95 that was the first all-in-one smartphone and was the best phone avaiable on the market. But OK, just like Nokia would be "too stupid" for innovate without iPhone, the same could be said for all other companies like Samsung amd Sony Ericsson that did nothing for the mobile market, Nokia already did so much.

Nokia doesn't sell them a resistive touchscreen because these people want it, Nokia forces them to buy it due to higher profit margin as resistive touchscreens are cheaper than capacitive. Capacitive touchscreen can use stylus too, but who wants to use a stylus, unless you're doing digital art and need to be precise down to the pixel. There are gloves made for capacitive touchscreens too my friend, since like.. mid 2010. You say thanks to Nokia we have internal antenna, then shouldn't you be thanking Iphone? Without Iphone your N8 wouldn't be on the market today. Without iphone you'd still be using slider style phones because Nokia would be too stupid to innovate. They fail to move with the market which is why Symbian was announced dead and Nokia needed a new CEO and several other board members.

Its amazing to see how this little unverified news about Nokia os has attracted a lot of comments, even much more than that of the almighty sgs II.
I wonder why the airling company is still getting a lot more headlines, publicity and comments; much more than other companies.
Well, I'm not here to troll. After a lot of consideration and research, I have made up my mind to buy N8 because of its ultimate camera and its super sexy size, shape, body.
My N900 will compensate for its lags and browser shortcomings.
Galaxy sgs would have been my option but the size and the prize is way too much. I can't wait for the price to fall. Better products might be announced by then.
                      N8! Here I come.

AnonD-1311, 27 Feb 2011Well duh, android makers keep touting their uber processors... morewow you bring up lagfix?

                        1. Lagfix is for Samsung Galaxy S, this was due to samsung's horrible implementation of their UI.

                        2. Lagfix was fixed in like october 2010, welcome to the late party dude.

                        3. Nokia doesn't even turn on "out of the box" so whats worse? A simple fix due to manufacturer putting their crap OS on or a hardware failure in which nokia had to publicly go out and remedy? You choose :)

But I never said that Nokia market share isn't shrinking. And also I NEVER said that most phones today are manufacted with resistive screens, I've said that there are alot of countries that prefer resistive technologies because of the stylus input for handwriting recognition and ability to use the phone with gloves, so it's quite stupid to say that no one use resistive screens only because most market are into capacitive. Nokia sell phones for all the world, if you think that their resistive phones are not good for you, simply don't buy it and leave it for other markets.
