AnonD-510098, 06 Mar 2017QHD is the worst thing ever added to a phone.
Funny how... moreI would contend that's not good. People are only fine with 1080P because it's all they can get. Like a peasant being fine with some moonshine before tasting stolen mead from the lord's manor.
1080 on phones is really solid, don't get me wrong, but given how big batteries have started to get, 2K is REALLY NICE.
Personally, my ideal phone:
2K 5.7"+ OLED
3GB RAM
64GB ROM or rando ROM w/ MicroSD
MicroSD (nice regardless)
Qi
Good-Great Camera
Latest Snapdragon
3K+ Mah battery.
USB-C
UNMODIFIED ANDROID
Give me that, I would pay up to $800-900 Canadian pesos for it. ZTE Axon 7 is really close, but misses on a few.

I agree, usually above 4 is general unnecessary. Not so long back 2 ram was plenty. We are running business computers on 4, so for a telephone. Well enough said.

Anonymous, 06 Mar 2017QHD is not needed.
It makes FPS lower, phone overheat and ... moreTheres QHD phones out there that last longer than FHD and 720p screens so its fine. S7 edge has better battery life than iphones.
So im happy paying for QHD screens.

Shadow Snypa786, 06 Mar 2017Yeah but they dont say it isnt needed and then use 6GB of R... moreQHD is not needed.
It makes FPS lower, phone overheat and battery last shorter.
And all the benefit is just a little bit more sharpness that can be barely noticed by eyes.
I would literally pay $100 extra to get an 1080p phone over a 2k resolution one while other specs remain the same.

Yeah!!! I know the type....
on todays technology, with the use of todays application on a phone, 1 Gb is enough.... if only U(u know who you are), would learn to close the window u don't use you could save memory and energy.
But I do understand, U only care about spending your time on Videogames, gossiping or wasting your time on line, instead of the real world. not caring that to put energy on your battery what are we doing to the world or its people.
someday our phones will be capable of holograms or life like projection, and to charge them will need only to put them under the sun for 20 mins. but for now... really?
call me a eco terrorist if you want, but doesn't stops being true.
on off now, I out to see a REAL girl that I call using my 2g phone for 1 min... enjoy your avatarGF.... ;D

I really don't understand why people associate ram with speed. If that were the case iPhone would never be faster than Android. 6GB phone is in no way going to be faster than a 4GB phone for majority of users. 6GB is only useful if you use A LOT of apps and I really mean a lot and heavy apps. Plus storage speed and software optimization play a much bigger part in regular use.

Only entry level PC's come with 4GB of RAM and even that's pushing it. In fact I just picked the cheapest Dell desktop I could find on their UK web site at £349 and it comes with 8GB of RAM as standard. After all what is the point of a 64 bit archtecture if you are still going to limit the RAM to the limitations of a 32 bit ome?

...erm, 06 Mar 2017With 4GB still doing the job for full-fledged PCs (outside ... moreYah but people don't understand how the operating system manages everything so they think they need it. Look at ios, you tell me it doesn't run smooth with a small amount of ram. It used to be that android required more ram because it wasn't very efficient but it has come a long way, especially with nougat.
I have 8 gigs on my gaming PC. I can game maxed out resolution on everything and runs perfectly. I can have an insane amount of apps/browser tabs and anything open and it runs perfectly smooth.

AnonD-196068, 06 Mar 2017Anyone remember when 640K is enough for anyone? Bill Gates ... moreWith 4GB still doing the job for full-fledged PCs (outside of high-end gaming or content creation), yes 6GB is kind of ridiculous for a phone.

Anonymous, 06 Mar 2017It's not lack of optimization. It's actually part of Androi... moreProbably, but I don't like the idea of continuous RAM usage even if there's no load. I have a 6700k, most games barely use 80% of it, so 20% is always under utilised, so what, that's good for me rather than unneeded involvement. Yes if Android maintained its smoothness like iOS then a different matter, but it still lags more even after not letting RAMs to go to waste, that's kinda funny.
