ithehappy, 07 Mar 2017I will come back with Pixel 3 then, when they will upgrade ... moreBy then they'd have moved on to bigger and better things than worry about an old port that is slowly dying away, hopefully it'll replaced by something better than BT earbuds.

AnonD-428442, 08 Mar 2017Bluetooth is more than ready. Plenty of cheap bluetooth hea... moreCheapest earphones sound better than the cheap BT headsets. And those cheap BT headsets' music output will be crap. Removing the jack for no apparent reason is bad. To get the same audio quality of a 100$ earphone, you have to shell upwards of 300$ on a BT headsets. I value sound quality more than the convenience BT headsets provide. As Apple isn't going back on this thing i will stick to my 6s as long as it works, and look for other options who have the jack.

Ummm.. does most feature phones in the past let us store thousands of musics/songs and play youtube videos? Yeah. I don't think so.

Anonymous, 07 Mar 2017I don't buy Google Pixel anyway, because it has non-removab... moreI don't think I can recall a Nexus/Pixel phone that ever had that feature, and a lot of people like stock Android. It's the way Google envisions it in its pure form which is what we want.

If Google removes the 3.5mm jack then they have to have support for water resistance on their next phone and a larger battery for the base model.

Removing headphone jack is like removing pockets from your pants.

Nonsense. They didn't get any benefits from removing the headphone jack unlike apple who sells airpods or beats. It's not courage. It's suicide, Google.

As Google made such a big deal in the marketing of this phone that the 3.5mm headphone jack was 'not new', I'm calling BS on this whole story. It's been invented by some bitter iPhone fanboy who's had to buy some new (read 'expensive') headphones I bet. Could be wrong, but until I see it or read it straight from Google, it's pure sour grapes.

They remove some feature to reduce manufacturing cost and sell at high price. And those rich no brain people still buying to showoff. by the way, any smartphone above $400 is not for everybody like me. haha.

Whether we like it or not, things will change. We can't just keep throwing kneejerk tantrums. Let it pan out.

Everthing will be fine, like it always has been.

The Moto Z didn't have a headphone jack. I expect the next Moto Z to continue the trend.

PLAYER SLAYER, 08 Mar 2017Except when we want to listen to music and charge of phones... moreBluetooth is more than ready. Plenty of cheap bluetooth headsets and speakers.
And people won't find the "charging while listening to something" to be a big deal. Many Android phones have wireless charging support, and it would be trivial for 3rd parties to make appropriate adaptors if you insist on having wired solutions for both power and audio.

This headphone jack thing is a non issue. Remember, most feature phones in the past don't have headphone jack. Many uses proprietary ones (at least USB-C is standard), yet we didn't have issues back then. It won't be an issue either now. It's the nature progression of technology.
