Anonymous, 16 Feb 2018LCD is bad for the eyes, and can cause long term eye condit... moreForgive me, but this is a nonsensical post: light emitting screens cause eye strain, and the fact that one is emissive pixels and the other transmissive pixels plus a backlight makes no difference at all. You may find a difference between the two individual displays, but it's nothing to do with the display technology.

If anything I find my current AMOLED worse for strain than my previous LCD, but I don't assume that it's the display technology that's the reason.

How about stripping off mobile devision. No matter how hard they try, they are not going to make profit. There's only future for Apple and Samsung. They better stop their irrelevant mobile division.

Useless feature that 99.9% of the people never use. Good thing Sony removed it.
If you really want it, there are thousands of apps on play store specially made for this.

Google should make Android even more modular. Just give us the stock featureless os, and let us choose what to install or not from playstore. What could be better?

Anonymous, 16 Feb 2018Thanks Sony! Only you could go backwards. Doesn't matter si... moreSamsung and Moto will have you. They will both lure you into their overpriced products that have a specified lifetime, as compared to Sony devices.
A Galaxy S4 today is like a turtle compared to a Usaine Bolt Xperia Z.

This thing is no big deal (but for s*ck*rs like you, it is) because we can basically find the same exact app for the feature, hundreds of them basically, and sometimes some of them work better than any stock app.
The removal of this feature helps Sony to provide a more stable software experience while also saving storage space that can be used by the user for more important things.
This is why Samsung is not that good in updates. They are implementing almost everything for the sake of having them, knowing most of them can be found in Play Store and work better still.

I guess you don't like a smooth experience, in that case you should definitely stay away fron Sony phones.

Anonymous, 16 Feb 2018iPhones have blue light filter and it works so well. This i... moreIt's because there is no available app for this thing on iOS. On Android, one can find hundreds of this app that do the same thing, sometimes even better. But the same time, when one doesn't need it, it can be uninstalled and save some free storage space, which you can't do with built in ones.

It tells everything. Only intellects will know what this thing can do. Maybe you don't.
              But here are some clues:

              -Safe 3rd Party Softwares
              -Customization

Anonymous, 16 Feb 2018LCD is bad for the eyes, and can cause long term eye condit... moreIf you think OnePlus makes better software, then congrats. Your data has just been stolen.

If you're intelligent enough, you will have the knowledge of Play Store. Since we're talking about Android, any smartphone could already have this feature for any device. Hundreds of similar apps can be found in the Play Store, or some APKs over the internet for more flexibile apps.
But I'm not surprised on how little do you know. You even chose a very unreliable Chinese low class quality brand over a highly known Japanese world class quality manufacturer for several decades.

Anonymous, 16 Feb 2018This feature is now standard on most Android phones. Sony i... moreYes dear. I'm here, waiting for someone dying or fighting out of his/her life because of the lack of this feature.
And let me tell you 4 things:
                    -Android
                    -Play Store
                    -APK

How can you dare claiming to switch from a maker to another when this issue can be fixed by a tiny app that can be found in so many version on Google Play. I did the same and was perfect. Stop trolling!

LCD is bad for the eyes, and can cause long term eye condition. Since I stopped using Sony Xperia device and used the OnePlus 3T with swift dark substratum theme, my eyes feels no strain because AMOLED uses no backlight to power one from the screen unlike LCD does. For health purpose, I'd extremely recommend Sony users to switch to OnePlus which offer built in dark mode, don't worry about burn in issues on AMOLED panel as it's unlikely when you use dark mode and lowest brightness settings. Stay away from Sony, there's no full theme customisation or substratum theme support.

Sony's software team is too lazy to provide extra functionality to their Android OS. Or maybe Sony just do not have the money to pay them. Third-party apps are ridden with ads. Stock apps are the best.

-. -, 16 Feb 2018Well, blue light filter on lcd ia horrible anyway, base on ... moreHaving no backlight on oled actually strains your eyes much more than lcd, no matter the blue filter, so its worse for low light usage and sleep disorders.

Turning off blue actually damages your screen color calibration in prolonged use, more so on oled screen due to organic components deteriorating faster, and lack of blue light may actually cause myopia.
