Lets face it - Sony isn't the great brand they think they are. They were dominated by the Koreans in the global TV market - they tried to take Nintendo in the gaming consoles market - worked for a while but then Nintendo came back and dominated them with the wii and DS. The Walkman brand still fails to make an impact against the ipod - even though they had started the whole personal music player business - and lets not even talk about the big mini disk FLOP! They seem a little too greedy to me - some of their product decisions just seem bent on fleecing customers. Like their overpriced accessories - those M2 cards which they made us buy for their phones - those cards are now TOTALLY USELESS since all the new phones don't even use them. I've been a loyal SE user for years, but if its a full SONY takeover, with their greedy policies - then I'm done with them...

I think is better 'Sony Ericsson' become different entity or public company that Sony nor Ericsson cannot control it 100%. Because Sony sucks on telecommunication and Ericsson sucks on multimedia.

my god!! please make a wonder to write again only SONY on the mobiles. I loved so so much sony Z1 from 1998. I like very much Sony-Ericsson mobiles, but i hate ericcsson name on them. SONY AGAIN

Do u people even know hw big the brand name ERICSSON is???Sony is just a little company when compared to giant like ERICSSON !!just google it guys!!

I believe the rumour is true.
SE is making a comeback and SE mobile phones should be making good profits in 2012. Sony wants it all for itself.
It will be a good business decision.

if it wasnt for ericsson sony wouldnt have even a foot in the mobile phone market.. they better keep the ericsson name, coz it will be very disrespectful

its a mistake, people are not happy by now, this will be the end experia phone and no more experia phone will come. mybe in 2012, sony will start making phone for their own and so ericsson. sony unfriend ericsson. what a selfish move by sony....

I believe a Sony executive said some time ago that they won't be sharing their other tech/brands with the mobile division as long as they are not the sole owners.
If this move means we'll get Sony tech like 3D screens, better camera sensors, REAL playstation phones then I'm really looking forward to this happening.

Ericsson slowed SE, 07 Oct 2011My guess is that Ericsson was only interfering and slowing ... morenonsense - I'd say it's the other way round of Sony slowing down Sony Ericsson by not investing in it and committing to it as much as they should.
If anything it should be Ericsson buying out SE and not Sony. Ericsson have more $$$$ these days and they provide most of the development that goes into SE phones. A Sony buyout will be a disaster and remove the only competitive European phone company left, only to decimate it with stupid Japanese and American mindsets.

I wish this isn't some show. I Hope Sony would really inject more of their Japanese technology into their phones! the Bravia Engine has been used forever in their Japanese phones but have been introduced only lately in the world. Their jogwheel never saw a released outside of Japan w/c is a cool feature.
Product integration from their mobiles to their HD TVs, to the PS3 should obviously too be one of their main goals.

basicly, ericsson going nowhere, still wit Sony(under Sony group)
really hope aft dis Sony will find new CEO, current one didnt up to the job I thnk, :)

Late decision by sony, this move will cost them so much and may end up bankcrupt. Anyway, let us wait and see, sony had started to manufacturer of phone as a sole brand (failed) and now coming back with the same sole brand (???).

Firstly, i would say, i like the picture of the big lizard swallowthe Ericsson name..haha..quite hilarious to me...good job GSMArena.
Secondly, i think it's going to be awesome. After taking over the production of the mobile, Sony will definitely have a say in everything they want to do in their future release. I have a lot of faith in Sony producing a great phone in near future. Just look at their other products such as their 3D tv, LED tv, Hi-Fi system, their Playstations, DSLR Camera and normal digi-cam, and many more. Plus, a phone with a short single word as a name is more fascinating.."SONY"...it will look better. Just like other top brand phones such as Nokia, iPhone, Samsung and etc. Looking forward to a better future in mobile products.
