Tooluka, 09 Sep 2018Well obviously, as most of users can see by themselves with... moreI am using my s8 plus as a daily driver for more than a year and there is never a single accidental touch or drop. Palm rejection works perfectly and yes, I do read a lot of ebooks. Pls don't blame curve screen for your clumsiness.

Well obviously, as most of users can see by themselves with their own eyes and hands, palm rejection doesn't work and there a lot of accidental touches, especially when doing side to side gestures (e.g. reading a book). It is also much scarier to simply hold such razor phones and not drop them when putting them into pockets. In 2 months of "naked" usage I almost dropped my phone a dozen of times and had to put it in the case just for ergonomics.

I disagree with Ro in one thing - screen notch is not the same as curved screen, while notch may be simply unaesthetic and nothing more, curved screens are actually bad and degrade user experience.

100% agree with Ro, and I also add another major incovenience from personal experience, the light reflection on the curved edge when watching a video.

One thing is great when you have a curved screen, you probably take care your phone more carefully you are worry the curved screen repair won't bring back the same quality and the water-resistant too.

Curved displays... yay! Extra glare and distortion because the marketing department said they look cool.

A couple of times, I've written a draft reply to these debates which ends up, quite long & detailed that by the time I've finished it seems to late to post.
So this is just from the top of my head with no research or links.

Samsung should release their phones so that they're ready to go with a top quality tempered glass screen protector factory fitted, this would be ultra clear (to appreciate that gorgeous 3K screen), scratch proof/ self healing, & military standard drop proof ideally to 6 foot & the actually screen glass to be even better quality.
Or that the screen glass is super high quality military standard 6' drop proof & it would be just a case of changing the top quality (factory fitted) scratch proof film screen protector as & when needed.
These spare screen protectors should be readily available.

I suspect a large percentage haven't tried the curved screens on a long term basis, indeed we've seen a few that at first hated then came to love the curve & those that dislike would you change the shape of the curve?

Those that just want flat, I believe the S10 will be flat, whereas S10+ @ Note 10 will be curved.
Certainly for artists it does make sense for a flat screen on the Note (but I could only trust the opinion of genuine artists).

One thing for sure the curved is less annoying than the notch and it actually does make the phone look gorgeous.

I have Note8 and because of the curve there are problems with the screen protector. First, you need to find a decent one which is not that easy, and even then you will usually get "rainbow effect" (Newton rings). It looks great, but it generates problems unheard of with normal tempered glass protectors

I haven't seen any argument backed up with facts against curved screens.
I use the S9 all the time and the curved screen is great to handle, there are no accidental touches and Youtube distortions. And my screen-protector fits perfectly, without covering any part of the screen. If some people don't like them - fine, but don't just make up stuff to try making your opinion more valid...

I want a device that just works. If I wanted to show off, I might as well show off in some other manner.

I really don't understand the magic behind using a curved screen for any phone !!! it's useless and offering nothing. I have Note 8 and its broken cause of the curved screen, only one single drop on its mighty edge and its done, only "30-40 cm " (the phone was fully protected with Samsung Rugged cover & Tempered glass screen protector and what was really shocking that both the screen protector and the mobile curved screen broke from its curved edge).

if you check the edge shortcut list for the Note 8, seriously there's nothing unique there, I barely use them !! tried to figure out the benefits I got from a curved screen and it's ZERO. and whats really amazing that the Note 9 is also weaponized with a curved screen! it's such a big disappointment when you don't listen to your fans and just proceed with your own thing.

talha5007, 27 Aug 2018i'm using my Note4 since its launch and now bought NoteFE, ... moreActually, they are not merging the lines anymore. Also, the Note 8 actually met their sales expectations. I do agree that there should be a flat version of it, but hey. Samsung wants to stand out and it seems to be working for them

I hate curved screens. They have annoying glares and higher fragility, but the glares are the key issue. I was waiting for Samsung to offer a flagship with flat screen, but no luck. So when my Note 4 died, I decided to ditch Samsung completely and bought Huawei mate 10 with flat screen.

I moved from Samsung S7 to S9. Conclusion: flat screen of S7 is better

i'm using my Note4 since its launch and now bought NoteFE, but still I use my Note4 as a daily driver and NoteFE as secondary device for playing games or watching movies etc. for me curve screen on a Note Device is a big NO NO. it annoys me when using S Pen and reach to the edge.
Samsung better stick to flat screen on Note series, but there is rumors that Samsung is merging S series and Note series to focus and invest more on their next flagship device the Galaxy X, as they don't want to end up getting low sales of 3 flagship mobiles, as what they have learned from low sales of Note8 after launching Galaxy S8/S8+.
