Anonymous, 04 Oct 2018I agree with you also the wide angle of the Samsung is 124 ... moreSorry mate i think you are misinformed Samsung does not have a 127 degree field of view, widest lens on the best (note 9) they have is 27mm 75 degrees, which similar to lgs Main camera and the wide angle on LG is actually around 13mm 107 degree perspective that's unique as its the only mainstream phone available at that angle.

    tom-phils, 04 Oct 2018OMG, thinking twice already... 6.4 inch QHD screen @ 3,300 ... moreNo..

LG does not make camera sensors. Sony is not going to sell the imx400 to anyone.
Samsung has it because they designed own sensors.
P20 Pro records 30 fps and plays 960 fps.

Anonymous, 03 Oct 2018I'd have been happier at a mm wider, with a larger battery.... moreFor me, it could be 3mm narrower. with a case on it, its already super wide.

If lower aperture means superior detail preservation, then I wonder why the Galaxy S6 has inferior detail levels to newer Galaxy S and Note devices.

Luckily the tele camera from the V40 isnt 8 mp. Though the still can improve and should give us a f2.4 for bright photography situations!

So...compared to the LG V35...it just gets another camera...at $900+...

No stereo speakers (which is humiliating for ANY flagship)

Garbage battery (have they not LEARNED from the V35?)

                          64GB starting...really?

                          Notch...

And this is the competition to the Mate 20 series and Note 9. LG already lost. Crap...if the Razer 2 in a week doesn't impress, looks like the Note 9 will be my upgrade from my current LG V20. I've said it once and I'll say it again: this year has SUCKED for phones.

When sites started to say S9 would work f1.5 /f2.4 there was a comparison between note 8 f1.7 and W2018 using f1.5...

W2018 has same sensor of note 8 + variable aperture. Samples show that in bright situations the photos came out very soft, at the point texture was affected.

It is clearly seen that samples of v40 has too much contrast, more than scene probably has. Also the center of images are bit blurry, even when you see on a smartphone..

Hope they don’t face another class action lawsuit over bootloop issues like what happened with its G4, V10, V20, Nexus 5X, and G5 smartphones, I can’t even get compensated for my G4 (RIP) ... lucky bastards, and good luck to the new owners of this LG Think T-wise & be wise before you buy...

9498, 03 Oct 2018This one is great, BUT cons below; I am a Samsung user but... moreIt has 2x Zoom, not 3.
The 135 degree wide angle lens on the G6 and V20 had terrible distortion. The G6 also had a problem of having two different focal length lenses, depending where you bought it from. I had the inferior one which produced awful shots.

The V30 was an improvement, but it still suffers from distortion. The G7's was perfect, and that's what the V40 comes with.

The battery isn't bad at all. My V30 has the best battery life of any modern smartphone I have owned. the V40 may have a bigger screen but it has a SD845 which is more efficient, so battery life will be on par with the V30 - That's great news for me!

Raising the aperture to f1.5 isn't going to make a big difference. Software processing can fix all these issues. On lower apertures, using higher ISO levels brings down the image brightness & illumination considerably. There are other factors too. All in all, it'll be fine!
