travis999, 12 Oct 2018HA HA, So 1k for a bunch of useless crippled cameras, their... moreSigh.. why don't you understand such a simple reason.
P20 pro's camera quality is close to mid range dslr and mirrorless in most of the cases (google it). And while carrying dedicated camera might the best for enthusiast photographer like you, carrying one small phone for easy snap and shoot is what most people want.
I don't want to carry any extra weight for a dslr and or mirrorless.
Not all people want to carry a dedicated camera, and want the trouble learning how to use camera from zero.
What's wrong with having a phone which is also serves as a versatile camera?
If you don't like a product it doesnt mean that those product is bad. Just leave it be... unless you're a hater.

With all the tech and gadgetry in this thing i think it will be the new phone of the year, p20 pro had the best overall camera of this past year, and if this is as optimized as that with all the updates then this is the new king, i can see my ageing note 8 being swapped for this.

travis999, 12 Oct 2018HA HA, So 1k for a bunch of useless crippled cameras, their... moreWe're you dropped on your head? The whole point of having lots of different cameras in a single phone is to make it incredibly easy to shoot different shots with one device. You can't argue that carrying around a dslr or even mirrorless camera is as convenient because it isn't. Changing lenses, carrying everything around is much more of a hassle than having it all in one sleek phone. I have a canon eos m5 with 4 lenses and I'd much prefer a point and shoot phone with different lenses than carrying my camera around with me as it's a pain.

Whackcar, 12 Oct 20186.9" display? That would make the phone oversized and most ... moreWith thin bezels 6.9" is not as big as you'd think. Based off the pictures the Mate 20 Pro appears to have around the same bezel size as a Oppo Find X (but with a notch). If this is the case, a 6.9" Mate 20 Pro would likely be around the same size as a 6.4" Galaxy Note 9 due to the lack of bezels. The wider 19.5:9 display ratio also makes larger sizes easy to handle. Anyway if you wanted a smaller size you could always buy the 6.53" Mate 20. Having a Pro model with smaller display is just stupid. Mate 20X 7.21" display is probably too big but I think 6.9" would be fine.

ryballs, 12 Oct 2018No monochrome camera sensor or 6.9" display? :(I think that having three different focal lengths is the better option than needing a monochrome. Time will tell if it's needed though.

I've got high hopes that the cameras on this will produce better pictures even with different sensors and megapixels. I was fully behind the V40 and super excited to switch from my G6 until it got disappointing reviews. LG are pretty awful with their software also so I'm glad in a way that I have another option for wide + standard + tele.

I don't mind the idea of proprietary storage option. It's probably there for the same reason Huawei never included SD support for any Kirin 970 handset.
People will put in any old memory card that they've had for years which will bottleneck and hurt the performance of the phone, especially considering how much bandwidth the NPU uses and even more so if there are two of them.
At least this way Huawei can guarantee that people are getting to use the phone at the speeds intended.

Nice phone, but I like lg v30 and v40 better: better wide angle camera, quaddac (one you try it you cant stop using it, it's that good) and HIFI sounds recording up to 142db and loudest speaker on the market.

Had Honor 8 pro, Kirin 960 performance better than SD820, had Mate 10 pro, Kirin 970 a lot better than SD835 (Pixel 2 stutter a lot these days & mine still like day one performance), my wife have Mate 9 which really really good in real life performance.
The only letdown from its other competitors is their GPU. But dont worry, the introduction of GPU Turbo update got my phone boosted by a lot! Mate 20 got GPU Turbo 2.0 which definitely be a lot better.
