I wish someone would just innovate a decent spec phone with no front-facing camera.

Anonymous, 19 Oct 2018Because they are so far behind. Give them.time.Nah both of them have stuck to a similar design language for years. They won't jump on the notch bandwagon as it would serve to limp them in with the masses and make their phones look unrecognisable

Mhhh... well, I don‘t care, just throw in some bashing about Apple, that will be fun hohohohoho“

Just don't over do and keep fingerprint under the display, Keep it the old fashioned way (at the back).
Why so much fuss about the selfie can?. Why not just leave it out for a full display screen.?
Wouldn't many of us sacrifice selfie for a True Full multimedia experience??

That is the way to go. I am an Apple user, but I‘m not as fanatic as many fandroids, so I give credit where credit is due. Looking forward to a notch-free future.

Walter C. Dornez, 19 Oct 2018HTC and Sony haven't done it yet, right?Because they are so far behind. Give them.time.

Ugly notch that is bought just because of brand sheep, rest of specs or price, is not something company which try to stay different, better, would do. But the same can be said about jack. Great time to find out quality brands giving the best experience, not just fashion and cool obsessed copycats. Wouldn't want to own such.

Exciting and on time, and maybe they could eat their shitty 18:9 aspect ratios to and give 16:9 back thanks. I even like the notch better then this foolish format

There was technology to incorporate image sensor pixels into display pixels. Samsung has used this on Microsoft touch table surface displays. Oled was one technology. It's low resolution, but you could slip a number of pixels in.

the real question can it compete with google
they are offering camera notch plus there is also a smartphone attach to it

Wow, pretty cool news from Samsung.
Glad they are my number one choice followed closely by Sony and in the distance Google.

This is old news. I remember a news item in GSMArena that Samsung had filed this patent almost a year ago (?)

Samsung will defintly do it a bezel free phone and with the help of their Acoustic Surface Audio they did on their S9 on the SID display week and IFA
I hope Sony does that too

                                      Meanwhile at Apple Evil HQ:
"Minions! What should we deliver next? By deliver, I obviously mean turn into an overpriced accessory. The battery, perhaps? That's a bold move! Let's see those apologists grovelling while trying to sell that as futuristic innovation! Mwahaaaaaa..."

Thank God for Samsung since they the kings of displays i'm not surprised they pushing this tech and could very well be the 1st ones to do it.

While Huawei and other's sadly copy Apple with notches there's one OEM you can count on to find alternatives.

                                        Thank God for Samsung.
