Huawei Mate 20 Pro's face unlocking gets fooled quite easily

19 October 2018
Two guys with similarly short hair and beards, who aren't twins or even related, could both unlock the same phone with their faces.

That’s a serious problem for a smartphone that is as expensive as an iPhone. I’m sure down the road there will be other issues, too.

Note7 owner, 20 Oct 2018So why don’t googles own pixel phones have Face ID? Because I'm not Google so I don't know why they make some decisions.

They are almost identical besides nose length.

And why the incredibly thick side bezels?? It's doubtful that the device is the XZ4, when the XZ3 had much better STB Ratio

And its a completely different approach to what apple is doing (eyes vs face).

They will say that they are gonna release it as a feature soon!

Dual rear and front cam, FPS on the right side, but not as power button.
                    5G ready, oled.
                    Maybe 6.1" ..... Possibility of 21:9

                    Maybe in January at CES

Linux android, 19 Oct 2018Dumb comment. Samsung first released Iris scanner and then ... moreApple has patented the face scanning techniques back in 2013. They were definitely thinking about it. When bezelles devices became the norm, they went with face id

But they might’ve gone too confident with it. I’d love to see a fingerprint scanner on that apple logo.

Also I’d say 3d face scanning is more secure AND less secure at the same time. It’s less secure because not everybody tries to use their finger and unlock a device with fp scanner and the chances lower every time someone looks similar with the owner of the phone.

It’s easier to just take your chances and look at a device with face scanning than trying your luck and use the fp scanner. That’s why we see a lot of these.
