      I don't like this naming convention, but apparently:

      X6 + NFC = 7.1
      X7 + NFC = 8.1

        They are hopelessly slow with their releases on markets. Who cares about their announcements. Waiting for the 7.1 plus to be available here in Europe before Christmas.............2020. And their lineup stopped making sense even pricewise. I need good mid-ranger with OIS camera, preferably without notch.

          Nokia 8 was a flagship phone, so the 8.1 needs a flagship processor. Not the 710 like the nokia 7.1 plus.

            so far all the phones have small screen. hopefully this will be atleast 6.5 inch screen

              I know info about the Nokia 8.1. It is the top phone of HMD since Nokia 9 is postponed for next year. The 8.1 and 7.1 have very similar specs but the 8.1 won't have the notch that the 7.1 does and will likely be tweaked to be a bit faster on terms of performance. Camera identical probably.

                The true flagship from Nokia will be Nokia 9 not the 8, hmd released Nokia 8 in 2017 is just for 'test the water' . same situation when Lumia 800 released in 2011.

                  Not sure about this... HMD shouldn't flood their lineup. X7 will loose value if 8.1 is true.

                      HMD is making a mistake flooding the mobile market with all these X.1 phones at the same time. Why would you invest in a Nokia phone when they’ll launch a better deal every other month?

                        A downgrade SoC but sure that they'll charge you the SD845 price anyways! It'll be a medium range phone with a flagship price.....

I mean I'm using an 8 as well, it will be one year since I bought it in a couple of days and I just absolutely love it. It has no issues whatsoever.

                                  First year, 1.2.3 upto 8, then second year .1 updates to all old one & now .1 Plus for all models. Can't really understand naming & numbering of these handsets by HMD. Nokia, don't flood the market with so many handsets with similar specifications like all other OEMs.

                                    At least it should has amoled display and built in display fingerprint scanner+ nfc that should be differences against Nokia 7.1 plus, hope it will be like that and I would be delighted, if it had also stereo speakers

                                      Hope they will launch their phone in 2018

                                        I believe HMD is not ready with nokia 9, so this is a filler model...although it would make sense to use 845...but since they are not using now, they will surely use it on nokia 9, and releasing it in mwc will be stupid, knowing the biggies s10 series will be released. if what i said turns out to be true, then juho should be let go! anyway, hoping for atleast no notch, audio jack and amoled!
