The only reasons I still like nokia is because their phones offer very good quality when it comes to sound (Nokia 5800 for example), pictures (Nokia N8,and many older Nseries) and reliability. Even the 3.2mp camera from my 5800 does beter pictures than most of 5mp or even 8mp cameras that the competition has (check this- http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/510/21042010687.jpg/).
I hate that symbian has been left down by Nokia. It's a very good os whith a long history but slow development brought it down. Imagine Symbian Belle running on the 5800(whith GPU of course) back in 2008 or even when N8 came out. It would have made sensations among the masses.
WP7 will never reach the succes that symbian had. It does not offer the freadom that a symbian device offers(no BT transfers, no system wide file management, NO USB MASS STORAGE - some people use their phones as memory stick's and its much easier and convenient to use mass storage than a stupid app. I even use it to whach movies or listen to music on my homecinema). Maybe Iphone users might like WP7 but all the older symbian and even android users will not. Another stupid thing that Nokia did is to remove autofocus from their new symbian phones, advertising "fixed focus"(no AF, like my old moto v3i,well that's new :)) ). I'm a student and I use AF for taking pictures various printed pages so I do not have to take them home or to the school's scanner every time I need info from one(one click vs scanning and emailing, you chose :D).
It's still not late for symbian but real progress must be made like dual core processing now , not over 4 years, encouraging developers to develop more apps and many more. Practicaly , anouncing that symbian will die sometime in 2016 made most of the devs abandon symbian. Even some users.
Well, this is my opinion. And for me: no more symbian = bye bye nokia
          Sorry for my english :D

It is nokia who is bringing symbian down or it is symbian who is bringing nokia down?

since this is under the "News" category and not the "Blog", I think the title is a little irresponsible, because this is not an actual sales figure but rather an analyst's view only.

Elop said Nokia will never go back to Meego even if the N9 were a huge success. OK, Stephen, what if Windows Phone is a MASSIVE DUD - would that be enough to send you back?

Nokia is not serious. Look at how they are playing. It will be better if they focus on symbian. All they have to do is simple.
1.just tweak symbian to support higher resolution(1228x720)
                      2.put symbian on high processors(1.5ghz to 2.4ghz)
so it is only 2 steps. This will save nokia. But if they dont follow this, then they should stop and keep the little money left rather than bankruptcy.

I have tried the WP7 mango, it is not hood BUT; It does not seem that WP7 go worse than Symbian,
Nokia's Devices are popular not for their OS'es, I belive that nokia has a trick to bring up it's maret share and WP7 ecoSystem.

Ignoring the various android/iOS fanboys, I think the only legitimate qualm against the Lumia 800 is that its a midranged phone operating as their flagship, at flagship prices, even at WinPho standards. I love WinPho, but I have no reason to buy a Lumnia 800; its not nearly a good enough of an upgrade over my Samsung focus. Maybe the Lumnia 900, if GSMArena's spec sheet about that is to be believed. The 900 really should have launched with the 800/700, 3.7", no MicroSD slot, and no front facing camera just doesnt scream "High End" enough to compete with other WinPhos, let alone various droids n the iPhone.

As for the OS itself, I dont know how well the other OS's would fair for it, and I feel like the "android or bust" mentality is based on the posters own bias(Someone even said they should use iOS, what the heck?). I think WinPho helps them differentiate. The faltering of Symbian showed Nokia cant handle 1st party OS developement, so it was Android or WinPho. I feel like they didnt want to be lost in the crowd of Android device makers, which has only really worked for Samsung and HTC. Who are also WinPho makers, too.

I do think MeeGo and WinPho side by side might have been a better decision, though, like Samsung does Android/Windows/Bada.

I have had only two smart phones : a nokia phone(5250) and a sony ericssons (w8): its all about support for me.

for both phone they both fair so poor when it comes to support. thanks to google and forms that I have never opened before my issue was resolved.

nokia's support was to reinstall the program in the phone again. but after the warrenty I need to pay for it! - same thing with my w8:

Nokia's move to WOW customers with WP format may be too early. Given that alot of people don't like WP format, Nokia should try other options like iOS. I'm not a fan of android due to limited options that the android could not answer some of my needs.

Nokia should listen to what customers need and want. I would like a phone I can use for TXT , browsing and playing music. I need a different phone for playing video and watching youtube videos (shaycarl).

People say that Nokia became too greedy, how to you messure corporate greed? as a consumer all I can do is not buy thier product and post my comments.

I'm still wondering , why did Nokia decided to go for WP? its not clear, even how MS was able to win the bid from Nokia. one thing is for sure, even if nokia doesnt make it for this quarter there is always next year.

Nokia was the big company in the past, and will be great again. Actually i have a droid 3 because the touch of my N97 is going down, and 3 months ago the N9 or the Nokia 800 was a rumor...

The android is buged system, very slow and need a fantastic hardware for a small think, apple is a great system but the meego is much better of android....

                                  Nokia forever...

Well over hundred comments in few hours. Lumia 800 certainly seems to draw attention :)

Galaxy Nexus draws only half the comments.

I think even the Pacific Crest analyst needs to reconsider soon.

come on nokia will never fall. Wp7 is to target new market customers and existing ones will follow after all its call strategy. The lumia 800 is just the first of the hits. Those who know nokia knows that's not how all their phones are priced u start high then the low cost phones are going to be a hit to cover all other incurred cost n the future. Its a simple strategy. Now i mention b4 give nokia praise for trying things new symbian wasn't always theirs and it wasn't based from android (linux) and its counter part meego (linux). To innovate existing tech wp with wp7 takes hard work its a tell step up. Those who aren't blinded can see this
