Nokia took a huge risk going all out with Microsoft with it's previous unsuccessful WP7, when they had the N9. N9 was a hit, winning all the reviews and is one of the most enquired about phones in the world. They could have gone half and half with WP and the new Symbian and then shifted to the one they sold most. So what if Nokia couldn't deliver fast enough: Apple couldn't ship iPhone 4 fast enough in 2010 and it became a huge sensation. Demand tends to become more when merchandize is hard to get!

i ve been a great fan of nokia, all my life in fact am typin wit a nokia phone now. WP is dead, nokia should see dat fact if they re nt careful Microsoft will drag dia company 2 de grave. Symbian and meego remain de best. If WP waz that fantastic why is Samsung nt investin so much in it nd de rest of the phone makers. I wouldnt be so happy if nokia goes bankrupt because of their adoption of WP. MEEGO is de future NOKIA build on it...r

Won't be surprised if it's true. Fantastic looking phone but why did Nokia go with windows? Ugly looking tiles/interface with lack of apps will always be its weak point. Nokia should have gone with android and if they did, this phone could have been one of the best selling phones.

lol i see so many comments saying that microsoft will buy nokia, that never going to happen, cuz in usa the company doesnt care of the government and governments doenst care of companys (exept for taxes). but nokia its diferent, nokia is a symbol in finland, it has a lot of national pride on it. they are proud to have nokia, and nokia its proud to be a finland company.

Wow, the phone launched a week ago in a few limited markets and already judgement has been cast.

I for one think it is a great phone, and I have an Ipad and Galaxy S. Actually was upgrading to an iphone 4s this Christmas, but I have paused that decision on launch of the Lumia, I really like the overall package of this new Nokia. Want one.

Varun, 23 Nov 2011Every one are saying Nokia Symbian OS got outdated. But it ... moreYeah, that's why the presidents change too.

Completely using Android's features? You mean all of the features? First of all... I don't care if the OS has trillions of features if they don't work properly. I was a Nokia user for a long time, but then I decided to try something new, and I bought the S2, wow, the feature I like the most about Android is, it simply WORKS. Unlike Symbian.

Every one are saying Nokia Symbian OS got outdated. But it has been serving user requirements since many years.

                    A small question:
How many users are completely using the ANDROID OS features?
How many features in android are really satisfying the users?

I am not surprised at all. Lumia 800 is a combined effort of a failing hardware manufacturer(Nokia) and a dying mobile operating system(wp7).
It was a very bad move from Nokia that they focused on windows phones only. Nokia should've made an Android phone also. And not kill Meego in the process.

Of course anyone can ... moreyes, I can be more specific: there are some series of N9 who are total crap: the hardware is not good, they reboot with an average of 2-3 minutes of use (no matter if you play, drive, navigate, use store, call etc). Although I love this phone (when it works is amazing !!! ), I have to give it back (second time now!); now and I expect a replacement. I suppose this is specific enough :P

These figures are just predictions but are also highly inaccurate. according to new sales reports there has been about 450k sales in the UK alone which which is substantial compare to main rivals Samsung and HTC. So far the sales have been very positive with Compal Increasing Shipments Due To Nokia growth. Forbes has nothing on this.. In america they have not launched new devices yet and UK don't sell that many handset unless you stick an apple logo somewhere.

belliott, 23 Nov 2011I wonder if you've ever used a Windows phone because if you... more"out of date software" ??? For now, they are pretty much a state of the art OS (symbian belle & meego); the only "problem" for many users is that aren't so much apps like in android market or appstore; and the only one real problem is that nokia store sucks big time (as web interface, payment, etc), but we aren't talking about that.
but their OS don't (you should try).
(we aren't talking 'bout hardware issues and product quality either, 'cause this is a different subject ...)

I think you have a very sad life if you're only joy is Nokia failure (?!). You're only excuse is if you're are Apple ore Samsung CEO but I'm very sure you're not. Nokia 800 Lumia is sealing only in a few countries. I don't think it hit Europe yet. Let's see what will happen when it will be available in the european stores
