nokiafailure, 23 Nov 2011Why on gods earth do people keep banging on about the n9?.I... moreI bet you are another (un)happy user of iphone who feels threatened by N9; well, don't worry: your "precious" iCrap is not in danger; nokia made only a very limited number of N9, so they cannot possibly cause any damage to iCrap market :P (and btw: N9 is way ahead iPhone regarding design, no matter of iCrap fans wants; so is lumia)

First time nokia-wp7, 23 Nov 2011This is the first time I have bought a Nokia phone, or a wp... moreWP7 still has a way to go to match all the features from other operating systems.

Still, it seems to currently be the only OS that is innovating (aside from MeeGo) and actually pushing the genre forwards. Microsoft is also adding features at quite a speed and so far they have a very good track record for keeping devices up to date.

the only problem with the N9 is that there are barely any apps that work on it's system.

Ok trying to stay clear headed but didnt the Lumia 800 only
come out last Thursday? I didnt we hear or not hear from the CEO
himself that they would only be shipping in volume on WP7 in 2012 also i thought that the figure of phone sales is only done every quarter not in under a week? so can i ask who knows if they hit sales targets or not for sure?

I know everybody in these blogs want to see Nokia go back to Meego so they can take on a OS that nobody apart from the tech world no about.
I mean at least i have seen a Lumia add on telly if you stood in the street and asked people about Meego you would be lucky if you got a reply even some of friends who didnt have a clue have said oh yea the phone on telly in regard to the Lumia even if they are not buying it.

This is the first time I have bought a Nokia phone, or a wp7.

I have always thought that nokia had great hardware and terrible sofware. Symbien is foul looking and useless.

Having owned a i9000 for 1 year, I was looking a more stable OS to use (andriod is prone to weird moments, and seems to talk a little to long to do things. Also had to force close a few times + remove battary)

Wp7 is a good OS. Not Amazing, Fantasic or game-changing. But with more support in my opion it could easily break into the top 3.

Nokia Lumia 800 is a good phone. Works better than andriod did.

Varun, 23 Nov 2011Which one to believe: Below lonk says Nokia Lumia sales ha... moreI think its pretty clear who to believe.

On one hand we have a small US based 125 person investment firm analyst, saying he thinks Lumia won't sell well (while not even in a country where it is available). Nobody knows what data he has available, but I doubt he even knows half of the sales channels.

On the other hand, Nokia says that Lumia had the best Nokia smartphone week ever in UK. They certainly have the data and false official statements like this will get the company sued by investors.

Does anyone really doubt this? Nobody knows about the future, but the last week is a fact.

I genuinely don't understand why some people are being so over-critical of the specs. "It doesn't have a dual core processor, NFC or FFC. This phone is garbage!". Well, no. Firstly, not NFC technology is very restricted in most countries and that would probably put the cost of the phone up. It's another novelty which is designed for lazy ass people who can't be bothered to speak to someone to get their number or lift their wallet out of their pocket. "Oh but what if I don't have my wallet on me?" Then you probably shouldn't have left the institution.

Secondly, front facing cameras are a novelty and it's only the truly Apple fanboys who use them to simply claim that the ridiculous amount of money they have spent on the iPhone is justified. I've had tons of phones with FFC's and I've made 1 video call and that was just to try it out. When really could a video call be more convenient than an ordinary call? Walking down the street? No. Driving? No. In the office? No. At home? Well, there's Skype on the PC which won't eat into your data allowance. All in all FFC's are a waste of money.

So, can anyone tell me why people are complaining about dual-core processors? They may allow for better multitasking but look at the OS! Does Mango offer full multitasking functionality? No! So why complain? As far as I can tell, Mango multitasks in the same way iOS does and that never seemed to be a major problem for them, did it?

Basically, this phone is different. It's setting itself aside from other smartphone's on the market and it does it well. By not having a monster screen it can appeal to those with hands that aren't the size of spades. By not having NFC a dual core processor or a front facing camera, it keeps the cost down and by running WP7 it offers variety to consumers. I've had Android up until now and it's boring. iOS looks as if it's lacking oomph, so, in my opinion, it's nice to see something that isn't a unimaginative HTC or an overpriced Apple. Specs aren't everything and if you can't understand that then you've no concept of what matters to the everyday user. I imagine, half the people complaining about this phone haven't even tried it and just want to rate it down because they love their Android or Apple too much. It's just like what happened on Metacritic. A bunch of BF3 fanboys rating down MW3 without even playing it. Wake up and smell the Mango! This is a good phone*!

The phone is just too expensive for what it offers. I am sure with some price reduction this phone will fly off the shelves.

I Agree Nokia and Finland are one. But Nokia is a publicly traded company and all MS needs to do is buy over 50% of the shares to have control. Now,if this is Microsoft's intention, the question would be: do they want to pay full price for each share or watch Nokia go down and then buy stock for pennies.
