Samsung launches Exynos 9820 with 2 Gbps LTE modem and dedicated NPU

The chipset is based on the 8nm LPP FiNFET process.

A benchmark tool can only do so much to show actual gameplay tests. In the reality of things, the kirin is much faster in churning out frame rates of the same level of quality (high settings) than the Adreno. The only thing it aces are benchmark tests. On actual gameplay it heats up so much that it throttles down, leaving you with wasted battery drain and lower fps.

    Actually its not 7nm and its not a76 cores generally Kirin is faster still i think espeically when Kirin 990 comes..

          Kiyasuriin, 14 Nov 2018that would mean a camera with at least 34MP. as 8K is 7680x... moreActually in cameras the sensor is a 4/3 ratio sensor, so more like 7680 × 5760 or 44MP (most likely 48MP, since those are the new sensors that Sony and Samsung outted).

            The specs released are just some of them. Like Samsung's 9810 was apparently the first one to have 480fps at 1080p in a smartphone processor. Though instead the S9 does 960fps at 720p. I an sure with the right now it could do that at 1080p (Sony apparently made them limit the resolution to 720p).

            The new 9820 seems to be made for the new 48MP smartphone sensor since this processor does 8k. 48MP seems quite possible with slight modifications. Though I wish the 48MP sensors were atleast twice the size that they presently are.

            I am expecting much better HDR in photos and better dynamic range in video. Also compatibility for a lot more video and photo codecs.

            9810 had some issues with architecture and software, which I am guessing may be due to pressures related to time. I hope Samsung had had more time on this processor and ironed out all those issues and improved this way beyond what it seems. I am guessing, in the end, the difference between 7nm and 8nm would be mostly insistent. And this processor architecture may make it better than the Snapdragon. I guess we'll know soon enough.

                Nice chipset! Too bad we'll never see it here in the US... as always we'll be dealing with Qualcomm's next Snapdragon instead...

                  If the clocks are the same as that config, we should expect just a 20% better performance than the kirin. And that's not amazing, at all.

                        So now that this mali configuration is this meagre, the end result would be worst. At least previous had a somewhat "equal" scores on benchs so the end user would not ask "why is that version faster?"

                        And no, all GPUs throttle, mali is no exception.

                          plus the G76 is 30% faster than a G72 while offering 30% energy efficiency.
                          it is expected to do about 1.5x in gaming advantage vs the G72.
                          MP12 is more than enough to drive this thing while offering better energy efficiency.

You don't need a benchmark junk. All of my phones that had top end Qualcomm chips with Adreno just throttles after 30 min anyways. You're just wasting silicon and battery life if you are adding more units for the Mali G76. MP12 is more than enough to drive their screen in games.

                                Also the Mongoose3 is a series ARMv8.2 + and ARMv8.0 + not a A76. It is more similar with Apple's A12 than an A76.

                                  I'm a little underwhelmed on the A75 when a better and much more efficient A76 is available. But I also don't get why people are getting butthurt over the MP12 G76. It will give better sustained performance with better energy efficiency. It's not like they need to push more pixels on games. The screen resolution is pretty much the same as last years.
